To many it seems like Phil will coast to his dream of 10 straight Sandows. With Kai no longer competing at the O and Rhoden a distant second in the back poses his only up and coming legitimate contender seems to be "Big Ramy". And Ramy seems to be a year or two off getting the condition needed to hang with Heath.
I think Heath will get 8 but wont get 9. I think by that time the combination of Ramy being at his peak and Phil being at his worse will allow Ramy to overtake him at first. This is of course contingent that neither is injured. See the video below it's Heath 2011 vs. Heath 2016. One thing I noticed this year was the way Phil was hitting his front double-bicep appeared very weird compared to how he used to do it. Don't know what that's all about. Also, he's definitely has a wider waist and bigger gut. Even this year. On a positive note for him is that he's in better condition now vs. 2011 which was his best. He no longer looks "bloofy" but he also not longer looks as round. I just don't see his body holding up to winning 9 because you can argue this year that Ramy beat him in several poses.
Now, with all that said, I don't like the prospect of him beating the record but there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I think people will assume that because he has the most Mr. Os, he's the best of all time and that's nowhere near the case when you consider the era he competes in and comparing him to his peers such as Coleman, Haney and Yates. But there's nothing Phil can do about the era he's competing in. You can only compare him to others considered the greatest and Coleman beats him and so does Yates.
I don't see his body holding up for 9. Ramy will beat him by that time.

Barring injury Phil will continue to win, I think he will get at least two more, but the powers that be will have to really think about it if they want him to have the all-time most Sandows.
With Dex slowly declining and nobody coming up that really has the genetic potential (Ramy is maxed IMO) - I don't know who can possibly beat him. Rhoden has too many weak points.

If Ramy suffers enough and comes in the needed condition, he wins. He needs no more size. it' just polishing his physique at this point. I'd like to see how Phil comes in next year.

Not a Good Prospect - Heath winning more than Dorian ::) Arnold ::) Ronnie ::) Haney ::)
If he is the supposed best of bunch.
I dont think so - Then i'm not a Olympia judge.

If Ramy suffers enough and comes in the needed condition
Isn't that what he did this year?

Yes. It worked. Now he needs another year of it. lol
It's weird seeing Phil's physique mature/fall apart because we've never seen one like his except maybe Levrone and Levrone retired young. Phil's getting more shredded which looks better in my opinion but his midsection is distracting and it's not going to reverse till he retires. It's price you pay for all the food and everything else.
-
I remember the telecast saying that he was overdieted and looked like he lost his overwhelming size, but after the show people appreciated it more. I think he looked amazing at one of the post-Olympia shows... Prague maybe? He was still shredded but filled out a bit.

Phil who?

The competition sucks.

Sadly,these days I could give 2 fux about pro-bodybuilding. :(

Phil will never get injured have you guys seen phil training in the gym he only use machines he doesn't go very heavy and very little intensity, its very hard to burn out on roids when you only complete once per year the guy doesn't even do the competitions after the olympia like ronnie and dorian did, he is the laziest mr olympia ever but based on these factors I see him winning 10 times but I will never look at him as the greatest, I put ronnie, dorian, lee, arnold and sergio above him.
-
Phil 10-20 years from now - no one will ever talk about him or Give a F. He has ZERO on ronnie, dorian, Lee, Arnold.

this...Phil is a piece of shit....in the shittiest era of Pro BB.....he can win 20 but will never have the respect that someone like Dexter has achieved.

Funny how years ago when everyone was saying ramy would win the Olympia on 2014 or place 3rd, I said he would get no higher than 6th that year....everyone on the board tried to blast my knowledge, I said he didn't have the muscle maturity or density, and doesn't train hard enough to even be mr Olympia, and the shit talkers came even more....years later my assessments hold spot on, I think Phil could possibly lose next year if Kia is allowed in the olympia....and I don't believe the powers that be will ever allow anyone to win more than 8 olympias....I don't even follow that stuff anymore, 1999 was the year bodybuilding had the best bodybuilder ever in history as a collective group! The names and physiques were legit!
-
It's fucking garbage that he may break ronnie/Haney record but to be honest who else is around these days that we would be truly happy with being an 8+ time Mr o? I can't think of a one
-
They need to implement new literature that states after 2 consecutive wins the winner isn't eligible for a third year...this would force competitors to enter more and different contests, and would bring a diverse situation in bodybuilding.

You need to free your thoughts and broaden your mind.

Nobody is stopping kai greene from completing in the olympia he was trying to make a business deal to promote his new supplement company and the promoters did not want to make an exception for him and kai feels that an exception should be made because he is a very popular bodybuilder so he decided to boycott the olympia and not complete.
-
Maybe he also didn't want to compete because he knew he wouldn't win, or felt there was too much bias in favor of Phil over him! Coming in second or behind the winner over years can have a profound effect on ones mind, I think kai would rather seek money elsewhere and not compete, he's been accepted in low levels of hollywood so in the end its going to be more lucrative as he's not afraid of the director producer casting couch shit to make it big!

He could , but I don't see it happening.
It's more likely Phil will win 9 and less people will care about it THEN vs his first win.
I regret to admit that real bodybuilding contests have been slowly losing fan interest for the past 10 years.

Not a fan of Phil, and I hope Ramy beats him.
