And been denied and you appealed. What was the procedure? Did you have to hire a lawyer? If so, what did it cost?
Thanks

I know many people who are receiving disability payments who are totally capable of working. The fraud in this system is rampant.

My cousin who is 57 has been on pretty much for the last 35 years for OCD and hasn't worked in at least that long. As long as he has a script from his psych doc, he's good. Same doctor for 30+ years.

This your chances of getting it for Mental Illness are much greater than getting it for a Physical disability.

Navy Mike was the guy to ask for advice on claiming fraudulent incapacity benefits but he was shamed off the site

Did he invent OCD then? I thought that was a more recent snowflake-era development.

There is a pretty damn high rate for for denying disability claims the first time around, and even higher the second time around.
Statistically (depending, to some extent, on where a disability claimant lives), initial claims have a denial rate of approximately 65%. Reconsiderations (the first step of appeals) are denied at an even higher rate (up to 85%).

No, had it since we were in high school. Single child, parents died two and four years ago and left him over a million. Still retained and lives off of his disability of $1400mo. legally.

Really? ??? ??? Where have you been? ??? ??? OCD has been discussed since the 1700's. Of course, the field didn't know a lot about it, but it's hardly something new.
Remember, Howard Hughes (1905-1976)? He had severe OCD. Watch the movie "Aviator." Dude, was on the EXTREME end.

BTW, you're most likely going to need a lawyer.

Very true. Most likely will get denied the first time. Best to have an attorney.

Yup, look what I said above. Unless you have a lawyer, you probably will get denied the 2nd time around.

My brother had severe gout and had an attorney and was denied the first time. He then was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and got it.

Knew a girl who seemed to have an easy time getting it for depression.

I know a guy who is an epileptic...as he grew into late middle age his medication became ineffective in controlling the seizures. His neurologist certified him as unable to hold a job...His doctor referred him to a lawyer who was a great help.
I don't know how much it cost.

Fucken scammers gaming the system. You know you could work but it's easier getting disability, housing assistance, food stamps, Obama phone and free health care. Don't worry I will keep going to work so you can collect. Scum bags.
-
It seems they try to "starve" you with the wait. If you have a doctor and a good lawyer and can keep afloat you might pull it off.
My neighbor's wife was saying she was having seizures. One day she told me she had six that morning. I looked at her and said if you had six seizures you'd be in the hospital. She walked away. One day when it was 89 degrees out she was outside on an exercise bike for about an hour. She weighs about 90 pounds. I went up to her and said she was very brave since if she had a seizure she could fall, hit her head and would be laying in the sun for hours. The next morning she picked up the exercise bike and carried it in the house. I just shook my head.
Another time I was watching this guy walking down the street with a walker. He picked up the walker and tip toed around a huge puddle. Its funny how people will go through great lengths to try and pull one over on the system.
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That's the best part about the average Trump voter. They claim to hate socialists, support billionaires yet are poor and need the social programs they live on.
