Title: JP FUX aged extremely well for an IFBB-Pro!
Post by: Macrofitter on January 11, 2017, 01:07:49 AM
Dude barely aged in the past 15 years (bottom pics: 2002 vs 2016). Was smart and got out of the "game" fairly early.

Seems like warehouses are a natural habitat for retired pros.  :D

Joking aside, he's looking great.

considering how short his pro career was not surprising....the ones who don't age so well were the pros who competed for several decades.

It wasn't "smart"ness. He busted his knees doing heavy squats without safety.

When was this pic taken?

Do you think he's on more than 250 a week?

No. Are you not familiar with the JP Fux double quad tear photoshoot?

It was partially "smart"ness. How many bodybuilders have had double quad tears and still came back to compete? Zach Khan, sure he sucked, but he still competed again a couple times after his tears. Branch tore his quad off the bone, Vic M tore his, I'm sure there are more that I'm missing. The point is, Fux could have taken 2 years, or whatever, to heal up, then step on the gas and come back to the state. And this is where the "smart"ness came in, and he said fuck it, I'll just coach people and open a gym (or whatever he did, I never really followed his bb career or post-career doings).

He was fried before the injury, looking worse and worse... The accident was the best thing that ever happened to him health wise

Sure. All I'm saying is, it was his decision to stay retired from bodybuilding post-recovery. That was the smart thing to do, and not something a lot of pros on the Olympia level end up doing.

Small and useless.

Kind of ironic that the recent threads are mainly about ones who screwed themselves up (Marko, Titus, Nasser, Kovaks, Prince, even Ronnie etc.). Wouldn't mind hearing about the many others like Fux, who have moved on and kept it together. Labrada, Gaspari, Cottrell, Levrone, Coe, Robbie, Paris etc., even if only how they leveraged to a next stage. If you don't give these others their due, it makes it look like everybody finishes up their career on a down note.

I never had a double quad injury that forced me to retire
My sucky physique did that instead. :(

That injury was the best thing that ever happened to him.  He wasn't gonna do any damage with his physique anyways.  He would probably be dead now.

I remember reading an interview with Shane Dimora, he said he was relieved when he tore his pec because he was doing back to back shows without a break, the tear forced him to take time out.
