Many point out that Robert Plant was crying over this performance. But the truth is, his glossy eyes aren't tears of emotion, it's an age-related eye problem that many people experience to some degree or another as they get older. And if you check out some of Robert Plants recent interviews, you will see in many interviews where his eyes exhibit the same watery appearance.

The "Stairway / Freebird, Dream ON" that should have been. Real men, playing an amazing song.
Dave Hlubek - Best Guitarist in my mind since I first heard them in 1979...

i feel it mustve taken some balls for deep purple to play that 10 minute song back then, its easy for us now to say how great it is but the kids back then surely didnt have a clue what they just were watching
clearly they didnt give a shit what anyone thought at the time and just did their own thing, whether it be 2 or 10 minutes

Before my time, but def a classic.
That was at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Jason Bonham (son of the late John Bonham) on drums with Ann & Nancy. All of the performers did a fantastic job.

Great stuff, good to hear another vocalist on getbig. I'd consider doing that track for practice but I can already tell it'd get repetitive singing I love you, over and over again.
I spent a lot of days, recently with Iron Maiden songs perpetually playing in my head. That is bad enough.
Led Zeppelin is above all bands in this thread.
Floyd are excellent and just as consistent and musically valid as LZ, but Floyd lacks a little in the vocals.

maybe the vocals are better, but floyd fucking smokes them on lyrics
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great pick. I do occasionally sing dogs. Animals is probably my favourite album from Floyd

Just watched this. I'm surprised with how old she is that she sings that well. She did a kickass job, and with the men who wrote the song right there watching. Takes a big clit to do something like that.
-
I've seen that vid before.very well done.

Led Zeppelin in a nutshell
Great drummer, great guitarist, good but totally over-rated vocalist, average bassist.
They have their place in rock history though.
Pink Floyd- technically brilliant but 90% of their stuff is unenjoyable without the consumption of hallucinogenic substances.

Pink Floyd, especially pre Dark Side, is far better than Led Zeppelin could ever hope to be.
