Remember seeing him in wsm one year, stood out coz he was actually muscular, no 80 inch waist but was red as a beetroot. Watched the year after expecting to see him but was announced he'd kicked the bucket

Blood pressure of peace.

I was a close friend of Curtis from the day he joined the gym until he passed away.
Saw him just about every day until he took off for California to train at Gold's
Attended his funeral when his son rowed out to deeper waters in the vicinity of Diamond Head and 'buried' his ashes in the clear blue Hawaiian waters.
Curtis was without a doubt one of the nicest guys within the world of lifting heavy things...... and believe me when I say that I've met the majority of heavy lifters.
A great guy and still missed by many who were close to him.
God bless ya, Curtis!

Very nice post, sorry for your loss.
I did not know he passed.

Thanks, JCL.
It was a while back and I'm very stupid when it comes to recalling dates but some of you GetBiggers (possibly Tommy Wishbone) may recall the day Curtis competed in some venue within the southern edge of the los Angeles Airport. I sort of recall that he came in second to PaUL GILLETTE.
That was the last time I saw Curtis before he passed away.
ANd I think it was Titus who claimed that it was difficult to train with CURTIS because he trained too damn hard ... or something like that.

Too bad. Sounds like a nice guy.

Curtis was a great guy. Always stopped at the front desk at Golds Venice and talked with the crew before going in to train. Always a big "Thanks boys!" on the way out. Trained heavy and hard. Big weights and big volume. He is missed.
PIP Curtis.

How'd he die? How old was he?

Peacefully in his sleep - After the heart attack -- Not kicking & Screaming like the 50 Passengers in his Bus as he Drove over the cliff... ;)

I judged him in an NPC nationals awhile back.
I was very impressed with his muscularity and placed him higher then other judges.
A fellow judge told me they placed him lower because he used "dream tan" and looked too bronze ???
I never understood why most judges didn't like his physique much.

I believe there is a Curtis Leffler Jr., who would be around 20 now. Hopefully he does not get involved in the bodybuilding or strength scene.
I believe Curtis died of a heart attack in the same year that overuse of DNP caused him to be placed in an ice bath for three days - something to that effect.
Onlyme used to post a lot of stories about Curtis. Onlyme was also referred to as "Onlymen" and "Lonely Me" on here. Then I added one "Lonely Men".
