If you think about it what is different about the US and Europe? Clearly the tech industry. Apart from that you have more labour arb, more debt and more cheap crap products.
If you take food, you have 'much higher productivity' so tyson foods chicken vs european chicken. or cheap american cars vs european ones. or very expensive healthcare vs wholesale healthcare here. also much worse obesity than most european countries.
nevertheless the US got ahead due to WWII and is still ahead. Only cost Obama $10Tn to keep it going post 2008
