my schedule is wide open in the evenings Monday - Thursday,
do any of you guys do 2x workouts?
also if I train chest in the AM, would train chest again later that day? or maybe pre-exhaust the body part you plan to train the next day in the AM?
current routine
Monday - chest
tuesday - legs
wednesday - shoulders
th - back
friday arms
saturday calves/hams/abs and posing
sunday - off
what do you guys feel about training in the AM and PM?

If you are natural, you will burn out quickly on 2X a day for the same body part.
I switched to once a week whole body and have never been stronger. But a research article I read recently said that individual recovery rates from intense exercise vary from full recovery in 2 days to full recovery in 10 days! So what works for one guy probably doesn't work for another. That is the true genetic component of exercise.

Science says training body parts twice a week is better than once a week for building big body muscles and strength.
So if you do chest Monday morning, do chest again on Thursday evening. Maybe do different chest exercises or change the intensity on the Thursday evening chest workout.
Ronnie Coleman trained body parts twice a week, and look at him, the behemoth.
I was doing 2x this last year and loved it, I Stopped for a 2 months and looking to go at it again. I live walking distance to a gym (not my main gym - its a crowded LA Fitness but no excuse not too)

Cardio in the morning fasted then into the office, train around 2 or 3 in the afternoon 6 days a week.

Did double splits for a while back in 02/03... The 2nd workout always suffered. For instance chest in the morning or during the day and triceps your shoulders are both later on in the evening, or back during The day, biceps at night, quads am hams pm... I would always be sore for the second workout. And I was on full blast Cycles and shitloads of calories and insulin

As has been said cardio in am, weights in the evening...
No need to train everything x2 a week, I guarantee you will look the same and actualy train harder doing it x1

You can get very good results training 2x daily but you need to know how to do it properly, lets say you train chest in the morning you do a heavy session then in the evening you do chest again with high reps focusing on the pump and getting blood into the muscle and also do lots of stretching, do this with everybody part for the week and you will get swole fast,
nutrition is also very important since you are going to train later on you need to replace glycogen as fast as possible so make sure you take in fast digesting post workout after your morning session.

Arnold and Wheeler trained 2 X a day but usually only before a contest and they are genetically gifted as hell with tons of gear thrown in the mix.

I worked out twice a day, once, in januari 2003.
After that day I stopped training alltogether upon to this very day. True story.

I will start to post pics when I get closer to show time, i hate taking off season pics. im a total bitch/scottsdale female in that sense. so dont expect too many pics till prolly May -
diet will be 14-15 weeks
carb cycle and lots of posing. my coach is always on me for posing, my rear double bicep has been my weakest pose. my hamstrings have a solid sweep from the side, but my legs lack conditioning and it shows in the rear double bicep
If I dont win the dennis james men's NPC classic tall class I fucked up.

Dealing, personal training, guru services, debt collecting,stripping, bouncing, bodyguard.

Training twice a day has been a part of many peoples workout plan. But the workouts are brief and to the point, perhaps nothing more than 20-30 minutes max, if even that long. Still somewhat popular in many colleges, where splitting up daily class time allows for short and to the point workouts in between.
If believing that not much can be done in 20-30 minutes max (even 15 minutes), than you would be greatly mistaken. Sorry to say, perhaps not aware of others methods of training.. Another item to be avoided in these brief workouts is going to the point of failure on every set of every rep. A process that has probably delayed, or even halted, many men's steady progress.
Russia, and the former eastern block countries,had their top class Olympic lifters do 2, 3, and even 4 brief workouts per training day. As had other countries. Some PL"ers also follow this same pattern.
All these partial style workouts seems to work very well with some BB'ers...if having the extra time. time. The pace is quicken in most of these training sessions, going for the pump of course. Home gyms can be ideal for all of this. Campus gym's were very handy for me when in college, as it was for other guy's. Usually only one or two body areas are focused upon.

I was lucky enough to own/run a gym for 2 years in the mid '90s. Good times.... 2 years running I got into the best shape I ever did this way*
Train Mon Tues Thurs Fri - very low sets a la Dorian Yates - 20 to 30 mins workout each time
AM - Fasted cardio (mostly stair climber) with the place to myself for 30-45 mins every day (I'm much fatter than Be There as a base, more meso-endo than ecto-meso)
Train mid-afternoon, sort of 2 or 3ish - using a bodypart rotation I picked up from an edition of Musclemag in an interview with a guy called (I think)
Jeff Sneed. (SMH ::)) Anyone remember it?
Another 30 mins (Schwinn airdyne bike with the handles that go back and forth) later in the evening, say 7ish
*Eating what would become known as the Atkins diet (lo-carb) (With a little Schering Primo and Negma Parabolan thrown in of course 8))

Maybe if you are young and serious about it.
Used to train twice a day at Saturdays when I was young. Don't know if it had any benefit though. But satisfied my craving for training.
Now twice a week is enough because one doesn't develop anymore at my age and diet plays bigger part in staying in shape anyway.

I wouldn't head out to a gym more than once a day unless there was incredibly hot women there.
But I do use the gym in my condo twice a day (and it's sufficient for my needs these days.)
