Title: my chest workout today
Post by: judochoke on February 28, 2017, 03:04:52 PM
started on the incline press, did my usual 8 sets of warm up. (135 for 4 sets of ten, 175 for two sets of 6, 225 for two sets of 6) started with 315 for three sets of 6 reps. not much rest between sets, just enough for my partner to do his set.
then went to flat bench, did three sets of 295 for three set of 6, with all reps paused on the chest. finished up with 4 sets of 225 for ten reps, with 60 seconds rest between my partner and I.

this all took about 45 minutes. kicked the shit out of me. my partner did 5 sets of cable crunches, as for me, I just sat there sweating looking at the girls around the gym. I was toast.

much harder going on a short rest period. give it a try.

Post by: judochoke on February 28, 2017, 03:56:08 PM
Why would I do that?? Then I would be a cunt. Are you calling me a cunt?
I started with the bench press, I will finish with the bench press. Hammer machines
Are for girls in my humble opinion. I like the cold ass iron baby. Get hurt? Why would I get hurt??
That's what my warm ups are for, to get those shoulder joints all lubed up.

I ain't got time to bleed. Or get hurt.

Smart folks learn how to adapt their training, dumb delusional fuckers keep fucking their joints by sticking to the same shit since they believe they're still 18...

Silly.

Never understood pyramid workouts, either. Why waste so much on lighter sets? Warm up, get acclimated, then focus your strength/energy on the heavier working sets.

Try jumping into a max squat or dl at 5:00 AM then you'll understand pyramiding

First off, at his age there is no room for further improvement. Lifting heavy is also a fun thing to do and a mental challenge is good at any age, but... he should listen to the signals of his body and switch from heavy benching to a smarter movement such as machine presses.

99.9% av gym folks are pussies...they couldn't hang with a real athletes for 3 minutes...just saying. Special the gym warrior type of guys haha

If they knew more they would stop bragging about them self and start admire real athletes 20-30hour weekly training program. Day in day out, year in year out...without drugs!

45 min could be spent conditioning the whole body rather than focusing that much time on one bodypart which could likely maintain size/strength at 1/3 that volume.

Seeking pats on the back for you efforts ,eh? Looking for anyone to be impressed? Nobody gives a shit about your workout or the weight you can lift. Sad old man looking for someone to tell him he is a stud. At your age your body would be better off walking, hiking, mountain biking. Pretty ridiculous to think a man your age is seeking adulation from people that A: don't know you and B: don't give a fuck

Yes your right. I can only go downhill from here. But why give up?
I do listen to my body. Luckily for me, I don't get hurt, my last major injury
Was when I tryed to get the 110 pound dumbbell up for shoulder presses. Guess what?
I don't do those anymore. This is really the only body part I can go heavy on,
All other body parts are more lighter weights. Machines are for babies😝😝😝😝

By coincidence, I did a max DL today to gauge where to start my next Wendler 5/3/1 circuit.

Not even max. You're telling me you can jump out of bed and lift something 75-90% of your max for reps with no issues? You need to get the juices flowing brother.

You missed the warm-up stuff.

I've done it for decades now, first thing in the AM. 5-10 minute treadmill, couple exercises for the joints, and maybe two/three warm-up sets before the real work. Not a powerlifter, though, so nevermind me.
