Peter LaReau RIP.
Peter LaReau was a bodybuilding champ who held titles like Mr. USA, Mr. America and Mr. Universe in the 1990s
The LaReaus lived in a handful of different states and countries, including Alaska, Massachusetts, Arizona, Italy, Belgium and England. LaReau inherited a heart condition and doctors diagnosed him with cardiomyopathy in his 30s, then giving him only seven years to live.
He passed away on March 12th in Seneca, USA.
Doctors deemed natural causes the reason for 54-year-old Peter's death, presumably related to his pre-existing heart condition.

Well had it not been declared a hereditary condition,I might have suspected that he maybe used heart damaging anabolic steroids.
Great natural athlete of peace.

RIP...I competed with Peter in various AAU contests. A great guy...Wes, did you compete with him as well back in the day?

Dry and grainy man

Seeing this motivates me to get off ephedrine... Even though I only do low dosages still scary. I'd like to live a bit longer then 50s

Seemingly didn't save enough money to pay for his own funeral. You can't take it with you. Am I right?
-
Right!

One of the first national level AAU shows that I attended Pete won the tall class. Crowd always liked him, but he didn't have the full symmetry and thickness to win the overall at most national level shows. Joe DeAngelis won that show which may have been the 1990 AAU USA?

And although health insurers can no longer deny for pre-existing conditions, life insurers certainly still can.

Knew Pete from back in the 80's lived and trained with him for a short time. I can say with out hesitation I don't think that I've seen anyone that trained harder than Pete. RIP.

A darn impressive physique!
It may be that he was relatively unknown because he competed in AAU/NABBA contests and as a result didn't get any USA publicity in Weider's publications.
But thanks to Joe and Muscle Memory here's his contest history.

Pete did a couple of NPC shows. I remember one show I was at with Pete got second to Jeff King's brother. I think this was back in 85?
-
He literally lived like ten minutes down the road from me... Maybe ten minutes..... RIP.

Not too sure, but I think he used to work at golds and coops off Clemson Boulevard in Anderson, S.C. I think he had kids and I saw his obituary the other day.
