Good stuff.  I think I must be the only person in the world who hasn't seen the original!  I didn't watch horror films for about 25 years or so, but the last few months I've got back into them.  No gore, just creepy.... things like Annabelle, The Conjuring, Lights Out, that sort of thing.  If anyone has any recommendations along those lines they'd be appreciated!

You'd like the original IT then. Not gory.

Only character I have had nightmares of as adult is the clown in it  :-X

No pussy or gay as in the dream I was in situation of fight or run and I tried to punch the clown as it was coming towards me  ;D

I actually liked the Curry It because they played it closer to a Pogo The Clown style clown. That was the vibe that I got from the book.

I'm not digging this version from the stills -

Seems silly, like a Cowardly Lion version of It. Also the Cary Fukunaga comments about being unhappy with the studio trying to turn it into a standard horror film, and not necessarily a dark one is troubling.

The screenplay is written by one of the writers for True Detective (Season 1), Cary Fukunaga.

As much as that is good in films for getting more of the story out, I do hate the wait between films.

Wrong. Too much emphasize on having the clown be "scary", rather than being the kind of birthday clown to con children into following him.
It signifies a departure from the original premise of the story, and why the original will undoubtedly be the better version.

They can't fit everything from the book in a movie.. it just isn't feasible. Plus the book is so full of weird shit.

TAFFEN, Try "KILLER CLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE!" - A horror story with a sense of humor.

I'm an avid book reader and have tried a number of times get through some of his books, but each attempt was unsuccessful  either due to my stupidity or a couple lack of interest once I got past page 22.

Actually he says too damn much to make a simple statement.

But I did manage to finish the book in which he wrote about the guy who wanders around (The Tower???) because it will be released by Hollywood soon and was referred by a couple of GetBiggers.

I only finished that book in an attempt to see how Hollywood script writers interpret it  for the silver screen.

It was already made into a movie, unless they are doing another movie.

Yeah, I mean a new movie, not the old tv miniseries.

It has been delayed.

Hollywood is also doing The Dark Tower/The Gunslinger.

The only scary movies I've seen (and I've seen a lot of scary movies!) are :

Night of the Living Dead. (The original)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacare.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacare II
Children Should Not Play With Dead Things

I guess I've just gotten to damn brave over the years to let a movie scare me cause nothing on the screen today has any affect on my scary-isn-nes.

Especially anything by Mr. King.

There was once a scary "book" written by a Protestant Bishop called THE OTHER SIDE in which the author tell the story about his drug addicted son and conversing with him after the son's drug induced death.

And one other very scary book (The name of which I have forgotten) about a town in Germany whose inhabitants ate some "wheat" that causes everyone to hallucinate and commit unspeakable crimes to one another. Based on fact.

That's about the extent of my scariness.

Salem's Lot - totally forgot about that!   I'm talking about the original one starring Hutch and Niles Crane as a teenager.  It was a sensation back in the day, I wonder if it has stood the test of time?  Might have to give this another go too.  Just watched a few clips and it was mildly creepy - for some reason this bit is the thing I remember most....

Quite a few of King's books/movies end this same way.  A shitty ending that has NOTHING to do with the actual story.  It's like he dedicates all this time to crafting a terrific story that draws you in, then he writes the ending in 15 minutes while drunk on Nyquil..

Condensed. Coworker went on and on about "masterpiece" (a common fanclub sentiment), gave me his old paperback. About 400 into 700+, I set it afire in the trash bin. Simply couldn't read another page.

Thought I liked King until then. Aside from The Green Mile, though, he's mostly an overrated hack. Best stuff is by far what screenwriters/directors have improved for cinema: The Shining, SSR, Stand by Me, Misery, etc.

OLS SCHOOL, From what you recommended above, you might like "WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS."

A documentary team films the lives of a group of vampires for a few months. The vampires share a house in Wellington, New Zealand. Turns out vampires have their own domestic problems too.
