A friend tore his biceps tendon (still trying to figure out what exactly the tear involves -in the process of getting MRIs and exams) and wanted me to ask "guys who would know this stuff" - so that would be you Gentlemen- whether Dorian ever got surgery on his torn biceps.
Reason he asks is that the doctor, upon initial examination, said no-surgery might be an option.
Thanks guys

again, Nether_Animal was thinking about bodybuilding shit during the middle of the night. shit from nearly 25 years ago. friggin sad. stop the lies. you don't have "friend" that hurt his bicep. you have only an obsession with 1990's bodybuilding.

This actually isn't me... I don't operate gimmicks or feel the need to. Only time I used another account was when this one was accidentally banned a few months back to contact a mod and a few users.

Not a doctor here. Two type of ruptures. One where the bicep tendon is ripped off the bone. The muscle doesn't work if it has no means to pull the bone. This has to get repaired if you want athletic function restored. Many doctors don't care about lifting, bodybuilding or athletics. They will tell you it will have no affect on health or longevity. One doctor actually told me, "You can use the other arm for stuff." My bicep ripped off and rolled up toward my shoulder. I had it repaired by a specialist arm orthopedic surgeon.
Another type of tear I believe is when the bicep is still attached to the bone but the actual muscle tears. Nothing you can do here. It will be functional in time but it will look different.
Regarding Yates I think his bicep didn't tear off the bone. His tricep did and it was so bad it ended his career. I believe he had that repaired but it was never the same.
My surgeon said repairs can only be successful if it's a fresh injury. After that other things have to be used like using a dead person's tendon and that is never the optimal repair. With me he used two metal anchors to sew the tendon to the spot where it ripped off. In time it reattaches and it grows into the bone again. The bicep shape is off a little but the arm works 95%.

I had a distal bicep tendon injury where it tore from the left elbow about 1 1/2 years ago. I had surgery within a few months and it looks pretty good. Left arm is still a bit smaller but thus far it's regained about 90% of its previous size/shape. Even though it's numb where the surgery scar is I do get cramping and pain in the surrounding area when I overuse my left arm. That should eventually subside. It looked bloody horrible before surgery though.

Patient "but Dorian Yates got surgery"
