Cool story, Coach.

I have not owned cable in years. It's a waste.

I have Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Now. No reason for anything else.

The price of Comcast Cable where I live is fucking ridiculous.

The only competition is DIRECTV, which isn't cheap either.

And I can't get Verizon FIOS where I live.

So it is essentially a fucking monopoly. No competition.

I am seriously thinking of buying one of those flat antenna things for my locals, dump cable and do Amazon or Sling with my Netflix.

I haven't had cable or satellite in years. Just give me an internet connection and I'm good.
The technology is surpassing comm companies and they are clawing to keep their market share.

X2. Internet connection and 1 or 2 streaming movie source and you're good.

Though I do miss certain stations like Investgative Discovery, Animal Planet, Science Channel and National Geographic.

I wish cable companies would allow you to pay based on how many channels you want.

Then how do you watch Foxnews?  Only cable cutter solution I know is PlayStation Vue.  Slingtv doesn't have foxnews.  And Fox news' Roku app is shit without live news.

I'd love to cut the cord, but I'd miss two things:
- Live sports (such as NFL games)
- Live news, such as Fox

You can watch live sports for free on the internet. Quality isn't always great though. www.chanfeed.com is one example.
Not sure about live news. I know a few sites that have their broadcasts live on the internet, but I'm not sure if that's only for major events.

Go to the local bar for a drink and spend hours watching Fox News.

YouTube has various live streams of almost all the major news networks

they get taken down, but they always pop back up

Literally thought this was a thread about tree-huggers cutting their off-springs umbilical cords...  ???

Didn't know cable still even existed either, so maybe that threw me.

Upgrade to Kodi 17.1

Also put a build on your Firestick (like Beast or FireTVguru) NOT just installing exodus onto the Kodi app -

They need to just offer subscriptions based on how many channels you want. I do not know if this would be cost effective for them. On the other hand, people are leaving in droves.

Even in the 1980's there were people asking the cable companies to offer "a la carte" services but the cable companies said that their "business model" didn't work that way.  It's not working so hot at the moment, but it made them a lot of money for a while.

I  mostly listen to music via internet radio, vinyl, CD and the songs I have on computers.  I watch movies on Blu Ray and DVD too.  I rarely sit down to watch TV but will sometimes catch a bit of Fox News.   Not much, just a bit.

I have Amazon Fire tv, Netflix, Apple TV and a streaming service through cable. By Bill went from $192 for cable to $140 (includes Internet and phone) and now have all the movie channels. I rarely watch, but it's nice to have if I do want it. Paying the $20 for cable streaming gets me all the live news and sports should I choose to use it.
