Title: Victor Martinez - Overrated?

I hate to trash the guy after what he has been through, but Vic is the one top pro that I never quite understood the hype for. Even when he first turned pro his lines were far from perfect. Smallish quads, weak calves, arms always look oiled (especially later), and his supposed best year (2007) he looks like a glazed donut (although almost everyone was off that year's O).

He was great once but is useless to us now.

Over rated? Compared to what?

Peak Vic had a great build with good proportion/symmetry/lines. He wasn't gifted a lot of  placing.

I think he was underrated more than anything.

I gotta disagree. The hype was deserved. Look at the last pic you posted.....almost flawless. Who cares about small quads......Branch Warren looked stupid. Big quads don't look good or aesthetic. They never should have been rewarded to begin with. In his prime he was just right.

Overrated compared to what. The first shot when he won the NOC, and 2007 when he should have won the O. He sported one of the best physiques ever seen in bbing.

I'd say victor 2007 was a better bodybuilder than any Dexter and Phils version.

To think he has been a pro for, what, 16 years now?  He competed in the 2001 NOC with Tom Prince and Mike Matarazzo!

Even though he should have won the Mr. Olympia in 2007 - the same year he won the Arnold - in reality, as far as Olympia podium supremacy is concerned, he Never1AShow.   :-\ :-X
