:-[
-
He put himself under the weight of the barbell and in the process became a man.
-
very sad

Wow shocking. He's on my Facebook making posts everyday. Thought he was perfectly heathy.
RIP

I think is was Samir that said he had just spoken to him a few days ago and seemed just fine. I think he battled cancer a while back but not sure if that had anything to do with it.
-
He was given 3 months to live in 2012 so he did well considering. Terminal cancer doesn't just go away though.

I only have two questions:
Was he 70?
What happens when we die? I fear it is a horrifying mushroom trip that we want to end...but that doesn't end... :(

74. He went on keto diet for his cancer and went into remission. He was told he had 4 months to live.
-
Followed his career and writings a lot, good mind. Real stand out was the book Bodybuilding a scientific approach, that book and Arnolds encyclopaedia formed the theoretical base for my early training and im sure many others from my generation.
So many win the battle with cancer to lose the war in the end whether its through it coming back or the sheer exhaustion of the fight on the body. RIP
-
Was he saved?
-
He was an intelligent, highly educated, strong man who excelled at powerlifting. He wrote extensively on strength and hypertrophy. He was behind a group offering courses for instructors.

RIP to a legend, I enjoy all of his books... (I used to buy protein from his site, was real good stuff, no lactose, etc)... (And very affordable)...

if he died of colon cancer, on keto then he was really foolish
-
RIP :(

He was an intelligent, highly educated, strong man who excelled at powerlifting. He wrote extensively on strength and hypertrophy. He was behind a group offering courses for instructors.
his quads were pathetically weak according to AJ and his leg extension testing machine
he had AJ run the test twice to be sure and it was as AJ stated
AJ told him that his quads are weak but his hams and spinal erectors were super strong hence his mighty Squat

Keto will definitely prolong life in a lot of cases but I feel that genetic predisposition plays the ultimate roll.

Thought the McCoy's killed hom back in the day?

In what you end up getting yes but once you get it you have to deal with it. Genetics loads the gun diet pulls the trigger.
-
Wow, that sucks. PIP Dr. Squat... :'(
-
Yes
Great news.

RIP - he at least made a name for himself.

I love Anadrol too!
I took 5x50mg pills over a 20 day period last August. Is that bad? Will I die?

Invented one of my favorite pieces of gym equipment in the last 50yrs... The Hatfield Squat Bar. That thing is indispensable. Squat with no spotter with hands gripping the uprights of a power rack.. 700-800lb standing calve raiss, good mornings, etc.. Just fucken awesome.
-
terrible diet and roid head ::)

Dr. Squat discusses Lee Moran (The first man to ever squat 1000 pounds)
Collar comes loose and plates come flying off on his first attempt.
Fails and passes out on the second attempt.
Completes the lift on the third attempt.

Is it true that Dr. Hatfield Never1AShow?
Is it also true that (unlike Liar Priest), Dr. Hatfield never chilidogged booty?

I hate to see disrespect in a thread like this. Fred Hatfield was one of the few people involved in the Iron game who had a PhD degree. His book on Scientific Bodybuilding is perhaps the best book written on the subject.
I met Fred in Sydney when he was visiting to set up an gym instructor's course. Very strong-minded person.
I respect anyone who can lift more than double what my best was in the squat!

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Canada 1970 ::)
Personally, I don't tolerate disrespect...

Nice man. And intelligent.
I remember him training for a big squat, saying he was stuffing down lots of cake batter or some shit to become heavier/maintain a high bodyweight. Would climb seven steps and become winded.
Hated it.
But what had to be done had to be done.
RIP

Candy bars, Snickers and 3 Musketeers were his thing. He'd have one every couple of hours. I seem to remember he was big on MCT oil too.
Paul Wrenn, another big lifter of the time was into corn bread for gaining weight. He'd advise eating a few giant pieces with each meal.
-
What could he squat drug free? 400...450?

Dr. JM Blakey ate up to 8 grand cals a day, bbut could keep that up for only about 10 days
