What's even more fascinating is that there isn't more accidents like in air collisions or emergency landings. As much of a pain travel can be the airlines really do an excellent job keeping everything safe.

china is in the process of taking over the global air travel world soon. its happening now.
blue sky laws make it hard for US carriers to have flights over to china - they stacked the chips in their favor

I knew a guy who was an air traffic controller in NYC. He was making close to 150K a year. But, apparently if you make 3 mistakes, no matter how small, within a certain time frame, your ass is fired.

As far as US airlines, nobody beats Delta as far as I'm concerned. Lufthansa is is the best I've flown on outside of the US.

I used to really like Virgin America in the US, but worldwide, I have a soft spot for British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
Lufthansa is great though.

Virgin America's merger with Alaskan airlines created a powerful West coast airline. I expect Alaskan to eventually acquire more hubs in the East.

If they mix in some of the Virgin America things into Alaskan, I will be pretty happy. I think from a service perspective, VA was great, but they were letting their fleet get run down.

what i am trying to say is that Chinese airlines have big pockets, big new group of possible fliers and they stack their chips for own there. Chinese airlines are not going to fly Denver to Dallas etc but long term on a global level, the Chinese will kill it. all the aviation jounrals like CAPA have some legit details about it.
the US airlines get a raw deal against the foreign (Emirates for example) get government subsidies on another level. US airlines still compete in the market.
good to see the DOJ did drop the airline collusion lawsuit
airline financing on this level is nutty, EETCs and ABS market is unique as its gets.
