David Niven played Bond in Casino Royale in 1967 so technically the first to die.

RIP Sir Roger.

He was thought to be a "Younger Bond" than Connery...Ironically Roger Moore was older.

I am surprised no one has talked about his role in "Maverick"

He always looked younger,  especially in his debut live and let die, he looked very fresh faced.

Yeah...and as far as Maverick goes I will go further and say they changed the Bond character to be more like Beau Maverick because he was such a good comedian.  (It is easy to picture him being the "TV Batman" instead of Adam West.)

Richard Kiel (Jaws) was the best henchman, and Roger Moore was the best Bond.   Will have a James Bond movie marathon on the weekend in honor of both of them.

if suppose, everything considered, reaching 89 was pretty good.

Health and death
Moore nearly died from double pneumonia when he was five.[45] He had an infection of his foreskin at the age of eight and underwent a circumcison, and had his appendix, tonsils, and adenoids removed.[46]
In 1993, Moore was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and underwent successful surgery for the disease.[47]
Moore collapsed on stage while appearing on Broadway in 2003,[48] and was fitted with a pacemaker to treat a potentially deadly slow heartbeat.[42]
He was left bedridden by pneumonia for weeks in 2012, and had to learn how to walk again.[49]
In 2012 Moore revealed he had been treated for skin cancer several times.[50] He was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2013, which left him unable to drink alcohol.[42]
His family announced his death in Switzerland from cancer on 23 May 201

When I think Bond, Moore's face comes to mind. Moonraker was my first 007 flick.

Him and Craig are my favourites, although I very much like Connery, too.

Had a good, long life, but it's still sad. Have never heard a bad word spoken about Roger.

 :(

Exactly and he had fun as bond and never took himself seriously! Never heard a bad word either, a good guy and dedicated all that time to unicef. Shoulda gone on forever

R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore !!! :'(
The music of the opening theme of The Persuaders from the great John Barry is one of the best ever !!! 8)

Honestly, he was second favorite Bond after Connery......Sean recommended him as his successor in the early 70's Bond....obviously, these two were friends......"The Saint" was Epic in its time too....PIP, Moore, the Ultimate Pussy Slayer.

A sad day.

Like many in this thread, I grew up with Roger.

While I am a big fan of the franchise and Sean Connery, Moore was my James Bond.

Definitely need a Moore Bond marathon.

RIP, Roger.

Wow...the U.K. is getting hit hard this week! Definitely a "RIP" worthy chap if ever there was one.

Sean Connery is sitting in his fine leather recliner, silk robed of course and sipping on his finest brandy, thinking "I out lived all the bahshtads!"

Great idea.  I believe that Jaws was the only "return" villain in the series because of his popularity with the audience.

Making the not short roger moore look tiny.

I rarely post, well because I have nothing to say and nothing of worth to contribute to anyone anywhere on this planet. But even my sorry self-hate must be set aside to salute the man who is 007 to me and my ilk and always will be. Sir Roger Moore - you were a titan. You are now one of God's lions. Thank you for allowing even a piece of shit like me to forget and fantasize every couple years on those rare occasions when courage needed to take public transport all the way to the Century 12 was summoned from the deep like oil from the wells.
