as apposed to saving 1k per month only yeilds 1600 a month at retirement
so what are your choices for the 8% return investment

I put 15 years of my life avoid dayjobb...and I did make it, I have been working total 3-4 years in my 38 years of live...then realised u need to work to not get fucked up...so...just work drink beer when free and be happy

juloo ceasar is right! not enough time to work workout and do all things so you must decide early what to do but also need to work at times because gym is not free!

Why settle for 8% ?
The rule of 72 would see (72 divided by 8) your invested amount requiring 9 years to double, then 9 years to double again and so forth.
Safe stocks like Amazon, E.A, Activision, Facebook, TakeTwo (Rockstar) etc would double in half that time if their current trend continues.
Hell, buy AMD shares and you might double it in just 12 months from now.
Do your own investing.

And what happens when that doesn't happen. Trying to pick your own stocks and manage it is a losers game imo. Most people suck at it and end up losing money.

Truth. Just put that $250/month into an S&P 500 index fund or ETF. Average return over a long period of time is right around your 8% target. Maybe more. But that means a Long time, not 5 years. Smart plan. But don't forget about taxes.
