Title: Cryptocurrency
Post by: jannekassen on May 25, 2017, 01:46:06 PM
Is anyone here lucky enough to have gotten into Bitcoin before it exploded to the $2500 dollars it is today. If you bought 1000 dollars worth of BTC at the IPO it would be worth 35 million today. Im personally in Maidsafe Coin as I believe in the platform it is being built on. Im assuming all getbiggers except me carry millions in investments

Bitcoins and Beanie Babies.

In the mid-90's Beanie Babies were being bought by speculators and anyone that actually wished to have a Beanie Baby for fun, was priced out of the market.  Everyone was buying Beanie Babies to the point that nobody wished to sell them, because why would you sell something for $500 that might be $800 tomorrow.  When there were no buyers left who would pay an even greater sum just to play in the market, Beanie Babies crashed.

Same thing will happen to bitcoins.

Yup, I been "investing" in bitcoin for about a year now. It just sits there, very limited places to spend it.  Hell, I bought a few hundred at a bitcoin ATM 2 months ago. Moved some into ether. Shit worth more then 2x the price now, wish I bought more. Thinking about selling the profit I made and taking a vacation.

Won't crash might be replaced with something better like ether. Crypo is here to stay, the benefits are too great.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be a long term, high risk investment that might give me some small profit . Ether is up 2000% as well. Big mistake on my part that I didn't buy more.

Sure it'll crash.  But the Asians will probably consider this $800 dip as a buying opportunity... crazy Asian gamblers.

Benefits?  Digital fiat with every transaction fully traceable/taxable by government?.. that's what it's coming to.  I believe this crypto technology is the basis for an eventual one world global currency... No more anonymity with/of cash... that ain't good.

Huh, the fact the every transaction is traceable is a benefit, can't make fake money that way.

The main benefit of the physical green rectangles is that government cannot trace them/you.

Digital transactions leave a trail.  Also, anything digital can be erased/wiped out with a few key strokes.

Yup, Transactions are all there and are transparent, anyone can look at  block chains. That is why you avoid reuse of addresses.  That is one of the reasons people of Silk Road got busted.
Cash is very traceable too. Every buck you legally make to traceable and every big purchase you make in accounted for.

The benefit of bitcoin is that it can be a world money, helpful in traveling. And you if can  memorize 12 words, you can travel anywhere with "money" just in your mind.

And no one can wipe your money without your key. Buy a hardware wallet.

You can laugh if you like but I made about 8k and managed to pay off my debts that I accured.  I just regret taking Matt Canning's advice years ago because I could have actually been a millionaire...no bullshit neither.  Hindsight is 50/50.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the bitcoin by now. But what you might not know is that there is a whole ecology of alternative cryptocurrencies being brought to market (initially just mined, then put on an exchange and traded for fiat) with their own special functions -- e.g., coins whose mining sends computational power to BOINC research projects (gridcoin).

As CEO of Vincent Goodcome Enterprises, I'm always looking for ways to innovate and expand my burnt appendages into new markets. Today I'd like to share my latest innovation:

Introducing, the goodcoin (GOC)

Good for buying drugs & gambling online ... otherwise, too risky for large scale investment.

If you got in early & cashed out, kudos - I'm envious.  Buying in now though seems ill-advised.  Heard it's difficult to liquidate these coins .. maybe not though, I'm no expert

Easy to sell, you can go through a bitcoin ATM if you don't mind the fees.

Exactly. Cash is king. Find out who takes cash, like your travel agent etc, and pay them in cash. Groceries, dinners, all cash.

Were are you getting cash from? Most of the places are traceable. Hell there are government agencies just for tracking money.

Umm.... dude, you really haven't thought this out have you?  Not surprisingly, most would be money launders never do.

First rule of untraceable purchases with undeclared cash is you NEVER spend it on anything that has your name on it.  Travel agent?  Really dude?  What kind of vacation he going to book for you?  A canoe trip in the nearest creek?  Otherwise you got an airline and hotel room in your name.

Contrary to what people think, it is really HARD to go through cash you haven't declared and is considered "hidden".

Assets they cannot put your name on.  I like fractional precious metals myself.  All cash, no transaction receipt.  Once it's in your possession, there is no tracing or counterparty risk whatsoever.  Key word here is "fractional".

but don't buy from them, their customer support sucks, if they ever respond.

I bought my first BTC when they were still under 2 USD.

Was the first legal commercial BTC trader in Germany - unfortunately I lost my "license" after about 9 months.

Had up to 80.000 BTC at times... made a decent amount of money and all in all I'm happy with how everything went although sometimes I still get mad and wish I would have kept them a little longer and be set for life now..

People who invested in Beanie Babies thought the same exact things.  Much money was made at the peak and many lives were ruined when they crashed.  BTC will do the same thing.  It is nothing more than a Ponzi mania bubble precipitated and exacerbated by Asian gamblers and black money.

Euphoric bitcoin "investors" need to read:  "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds".  It puts everything into perspective.

Great job! I'm sure, today you are very glad that you invested in Bitcoin when its price was so low. Personally I was too suspicious and didn't do that. Of course, I regretted. I started using Bitcoin only two years ago, and still I can see that it is profitable as the price has been increasing. I've recently checked forecasts and cryptocurrency news (https://cryptolinks.com/cryptocurrency-news) sites and found out that it might reach more than $20k soon. So, I'm crossing my fingers  ;)
