Title: What kind of Brain damage would it be to.....
Post by: bigbalddaddy on April 06, 2006, 06:37:54 PM
How bad would it be feel being a huge pro and one day dwindle down to a normal 200ish pounds and look like an average guy again?  The guys I would be referring to are Flex, Kevin, Tom etc.  Obviously Shawn never put himself to the limits that everyone else did so he never got the dramatic weight loss that all these other guys get.

Will anyone on here admit to doing huge amounts of gear and coming off to look normal again?

Tom would say..."yeah bro, like, for real bro, like, I was like, 230 before I touched gear bro, I mean I ran 2000mgs/wk of test, but that is in your body naturally so it don't count, everyone knows that test don't count, just ask Ronnie!..."   ::) ::) ::)

I'll be honest - it feels pretty damn crappy.
I was about 185 pounds when I started bb naturally. I got to around 250 naturally over about 6-7 years. My bf percentage did range considerably during that time as I was learning the ropes and lazy at times. Anything between about 15 to 25%.
I did a few cycles at about the 7-8 year mark and then had a big gap (both from gear and training) over the next 4 years.
After losing alot of size (I went from around 290 pounds down to about 250 again) I then changed my mindset because i was feeling a bit low having lost all that muscle and strength. I changed my focus to actually getting as cut as possible and stopped caring about the strength and muscle.
Well that worked for a while - I dieted the shit out of myself and managed to get to 240ish at about 11% bf. Ok - 11% is fairly average but you should understand I am a naturally kind of chubby guy round the middle so that was a reasonable bf% for me.
But I have found that no matter how hard I try (and by this I mean I basically starved myself at times for periods of up to 2 weeks) I can't get my weight below that 240 mark and given my natural weight is around 185 (I'm 6'4 and began training when I was almost 20) you understand that there are certain levels where your body just seems to 'shutdown' as it were.
At present I am resting up after a fairly major operation and havn't trained in a long time (just one arm as of last few weeks) and my weight is remaining fairly static however I must admit I am eating too much and my waist has gone up accordingly.
Once I'm fit again I am going to go really hard out but very carefully and plot and map everything as I go. I suspect that I'll take gear again at some stage (I used very very moderate dosages as I'm the type of person that reasons that by taking the smallest amount of something and getting the best possible gains from it you are maximising both your own potential and that of the gear. So far it would seem that when I have taken gear it has produced excellent results for me personally with virtually no obvious sides apart from slightly elevated blood pressure and greasier skin).
Having said that - I wouldn't go on again until a/I have naturally lost alot of body fat,
b/my training is right back up there (which will take me probably 14 months of hard graft
and c/I have my diet and all other lifestyle disciplines completely sorted out. Particularly as I get older (I'm 34 now) you notice your body becomes alot less forgiving for rookie mistakes.

I guess some ex bodybuilders become big fat slobs. And some become skinny twigs. Keith, did Pete get rich owning Golds? Did he own it when all the franchising started?

He bought it when there was one and sold it when there 650+.  He had clothing in one location when he bought it.  When he sold it Gold's Gym wear was in more that 13,000 retail outlets worldwide.  Lucious did you know who Pete is. Here is a few when he competed.  He was 265 when he competed.

Lets just say Pete did VERY VERY good financially.  He has houses in LA, Vegas, Hawaii and just had one built in Cabo San Lucas.  He used to collect Porsches (that was his below but I bought it), he has had numerous Rolls Royce's and lives very well.  He still has two Porsches which are unreal.  He has a 961 that has been dyno tested at 217mph.  He has a 911 with a rear engined V-8 with a blower that has 1100 horsepower.  And the read hood is almost stock just a little added on.  Both are street legal that he drives.  I had pics of them both and did post them up here along time ago.  They are awesome.  The Porsche that I bought was in the movie No Man's Land with Charlie Sheen who also collected Porsches

The last pic is him and my two daughters in one of his Funny Cars.  He owned a race team too

Yes it was and if you seen it you would think more.  Somewhere on here is some pics of it.  It is actually a 961-951-935 (I think I got that right)  Twin turbo Ruff Motor, carbon-fiber body with a Koenig package.  3 piece rims, and it put out something like 700 hp.  I use dto have all the specs but the little website I did for it has been down for awhile.  Candy Apple Red.  He had over $200,000 in receipts for it.  He still has it.  Awesome car.  I will try to find it.

dyno tested at 217mph  ???

I'm certain he means that while dyno testing the car they shifted gears and the car went to 217 while on the roller.  With 700hp, it should go 200+ on the road too!!!

An indicated 217 mph is what he should have said. It is pretty dangerous to actually go 217 mph on a dyno.

Posting that pic of Arnold on the beach is akin to blasphemy in these parts. Kinda like posting a pic of Jesus masturbating on a bible study message board.

I guess when he's 80 years old and in a wheelchair, guys will be posting pics of Arnold's bony legs.

I don't think that pic of Arnold is legit. He was in great shape just a few years ago for T3 and Collateral Damage. That pic shows a physique that couldn't get back into shape no matter what anabolics it took.

There is no big story with Arnold.  I was a celebrity volunteer with the Special Olympics for about 10 years.  I traveled to numerous places around the country to help with their events.  AT the INternational Games in Reno in 89' the Hawaii team was there and they invited me to Hawaii and I went.  I loved it so much I moved here.

The first pic with Arnold was in the VIP room at the LA Games.  It's where we hung out and rested, ate and talked.  That day Arnold cam wheeling up on his Harley Davidson with Franco Columbo on the back.  When the kids saw his they went crazy.  We were in there eating something before going to the weightlifting.  It was the first year it was an official sport.  They wanted us to help with the opening of it and help the kids.  In that pic he is eating a big brownie.  I remember his telling the photgrapher not to get the brownine in the picture.  But he did.  In the original I have it.  That room is filled with some big names, like Anthony Hopkins, Maureen McCormick, Susan Anton, Gene Wilder, Jacklyn Smith, the guy who played McKiver(?), Bart Braverman, a ton of soup stars and many others.  It was always fun doing the LA Games.

The second pic is us at a photo thing where the kid sit with us and take pictures.  Me and him and Spice took this picture because a mom came up to me and said her kid competed in the weight lifting the day before and wanted a picture of us.  I remember his name was David.  He was really strong.  He got hit by a car or something.  He was an athlete and high school football player but got dealt a bad hand.  He did really well the competition.  SO i told SPice and Arnold to take a pic for him.  I handed Arnold the sign and had him hold it.

You could tell most of the time Arnold didn;t want to be there.  He said something to one ime that showed me he didn't really care about what he was there for.  I got a little pissed but didn't say anything.  He had to be there because of his relatives now.

Ok cool thanks! It doesn't really look like he is happy to be there either. Maybe all that dieting was making him light headed. Onlyme always keep the stories coming cause you got a lot of people who really enjoy them. I wish I could have met have the people you have but I know I still have a while. Believe it or not, I have never even met a real juiced up competitive bodybuilder that is why I am running my mouth on these boards so much ;)

I will tell you from experience it is a tough feeling to deal with. I have been lifting since I was 13 and won my state overall and heavyweight teenage title when I was 19. ( at 5'8" 181lbs 4% body fat ) I had a pretty good powerlifting career also benching 520lbs at 195lbs. I used to squat 405 for 10-12 reps, Bench 405 for 10 reps 315 for 15 reps, Dumbell Shoulder presses with 120's for 10-12 reps 130's for 8's etc. etc. I think the biggest I ever was is 245lbs with abs and probably 8% bodyfat at 5'8". I am actually heavier know tipping the scales at about 260lbs with a big gut and size 38 pants. The funny thing is I still look big in clothes because and havent lost the size as much as the solid muscle and hardness. I feel embarassed to take off my shirt know. My stomach isnt actually really fat it just distends out very far. ( I never used GH or IGF-1 ) I constantly fight with myself to get back into it but at the age of 34 I just cant get motivated and feel burned out on BB. It is twice as hard because my best friend from H.S. is a Pro BB and I have to go to the Olympia etc. to see him and then I get down on myself. I cant imagine being a guy that totally consumed himself with this sport and then lost everything and have nothing to fall back on. ( I happen to know many !!!!) I really started to lose interest when I started a very profitable business back in 99 and then took it public on the NASDAQ and sold all my shares. Its alot easier to deal with it when you are financially secure. I also got married and want to start a family so BB seems kind of stupid sometimes to me. I feel like just getting in shape and being healthy again more then anything. I admit though that I have those times when I pick up a magazine or go to a pro show with my friend that is hurts. I suddenly want to go home and "Get Huge" again. I go through these phases of training for a month or two then quiting for like 5-6. I buy a bunch of gear and then it just sits there collecting dust and expires. I guess you cant be big forever! ( at least the biggest you ever have been )  Jay Cutler said he is retiring soon and would never stay as big as he is currently. ( for health and many other reasons ) When I look back I wouldnt change a thing though I love BB and dont feel I have hurt my body one bit from the gear I have used. It taught me discipline, hard work, determination and the most important lesson in life. "You can do anything you want in life as long as work hard for it " ( sounds like my parents but its true ) I was a 100lb 13yr old when I started lifting and 150lbs later and a succesful business career have showed how BB can be healthy after all.

Wow!  I'm blown away that someone on here is acutally honest!  It's all good bro as long as your happy!  At the end of the day that's all that counts...
