Sergi Constance won his IFBB Pro Card as a result of winning the Physique event at the Chicago Pro this weekend.
I first met Sergi a few years back when he had one of the booths at the Olympia Meet and Greet and it was immediately evident that he would be making a name for himself as a pro within the IFBB.
Sergi is a humble, quiet and respectful individual. (No need to comment on his doo and stash.)
But I'm somewhat surprised that it took him the two or three years to get into the IFBB as a pro.
Here's a couple of questions for some of you more intelligent GetBiggers who may be interested in providing some intelligent answers ....
I don't know Sergi's height nor competitive bodyweight ... so a bit of research on your part may be required .....
Question #1: At his height ... what would be the max and minimum bodyweight requirements to enter a professional IFBB CLASSIC contest?
I am assuming that he would have to drop his current competitive weight to qualify as a CLASSIC contender.
Question #2: How would he do in an IFBB Professional Bodybuilding event? What would his bodyweight have to be in order to be placed within in the top five at any major IFBB BB event including the USA Olympia?
Question #3: How many IFBB pros will switch events ... such as Bodybuilding competitors becoming Classic contenders oe Classic contenders competing in Physique events, etc., etc.?
And will the IFBB ever consider placing a limitation on the events that contenders may enter?
One more question coming up.....

Some drama on luimarco's IG wrt Sergi being gifted a pro card.

Thanks, VAN! I don't know Marco but it seems like he has a bad rep on this board.

:)

Thanks, NARC! I was looking for that photo to post it above.
A $2,000 winner! I assume the prize money for both Classic and Physique winners will eventually increase.
What do the winners receive at the Oly?
Any thoughts on that?
Pro and Con comments are appreciated.

You have Classic and Physique backwards, don't you?
Bodybuilding: heaviest
Classic: next heaviest, legs visible
Physique: least heavy, legs can be neglected and can be penalized for too much bulk; also, smile, looks and "personality" count somewhat in judging
All that said, the pro Physique guys seem to be getting pretty big.

MPH. Thanks to you I found out how stupid I actually am ... but this Classic and this Physique are relatively new to me and I find myself mixing one up for the other.
So thanks for the clarification ..... and DJ, thanks for Sergi's ht and wt.
(I've never been an Arnold fan!)
Now the big thought is (and this gets pretty damn argumentative) ...
Will the IFBB ever initiate a new Olympia BB event in which the likes of Sergi (and there are many others) would ever be able to win?
Based on your comment ,,,, it appears that that is why the IFBB initiated the Classic event.
But what prevented Sergi from entering and possibly winning the Classic title at this Chicago Pro?
Am I dumb or .... just plain stupid!!?
Dom't answer that!!

My own opinion on why the IFBB/NPC have initiated the new classes:
1. MONEY - registration fees (plus crossovers and friends and family in the audience), pull in huge money when the number of competitors mounts up. Like any American business, the organizers are getting highly efficient at getting through a judging and evening show in only a few hours with huge competitor volume (e.g., no posing routines for most classes now). By the way, there are few "general fans of the sport" showing up at contests any more, even pro shows. So the contest organizers have become efficient at earning their money off the competitors themselves and their families.
2. LESS ANABOLICS - even though the top people in bodybuilding are into the most freaky physiques, my sense is they got freaked out like the rest of us by the excesses and experiences of the 90s, etc. I think there has been a sincere effort to reduce the juice factor through the new classes (e.g., penalize a physique competitor whose quads are obviously huge). And, oh by the way, this helps with the MONEY factor, because it opens the contests up to wider range of competitors who may not be into heavy, heavy regimens of drugs (e.g., bikini, men's physique).

I think these fellas like Sergi pretty much use just as much shit as the "bodybuilders". They just don't push the food and insulin as much. Less food, less insulin but total tren whores as bad as anyone.

Interesting. Do others here agree?

Nope, they use just as much but dont respond as well.

Lean Cuisine for schmoes on a diet.
WTF the rainbow baggies? Stands like he should be wearing pumps. Yeah, he looks better than me but that's pretty much nothing to crow about.
-

Yes, but some of these fans like luimarco, who don't use themselves, seem to think they only use some "light cycles" every now and then. No there's not much difference to the bodybuilders and the guys aren't even that small really. The physique guys are pretty damn jacked.
If these divisions are meant to curb drug use forget about it, that will fail lol ::)
There were some accusations about Sergi's delts being "oiled"... whether oil or just plain steroids he's shot plenty there.
-

they are as big as 70s pros ffs

Didn't he won a pro physique event?

He won the Chicago Pro Men's Physique division on Saturday, July 1st 2017. Prior to that, he petitioned the IFBB for a pro card, and they granted him pro status. The controversy stems from the fact that he never earned it through traditional means. Such as winning a national championship, or one of the Arnold Classic Amateur competitions.
-
not nuch to add other than he looks good,,,and what van said makes sense theses guys stay lean all year probably 10 to 15 over contest shape ready for photo shoot quick, take neccessary compounds to get peeled and or maintain ..and about being bigger better than 70;s guys ,maybe so but zanes top mro condition is still the benchmark or close for these guys..

i think his build is solid, legs are a bit thin but doesnt matter in his class.

Yes, you'd be shocked how much these guys use. They use grams of shit. Just don't train legs, or basically anything all that hard.

Actually, Mens Physique competitors have height divisions WITHOUT weight restrictions...therefore the order of potential "heaviest to lightest" would be 1. Bodybuilding 2. Physique 3. Classic (height AND weight restrictions)

Don't follow and disagree. Elaborate. The Classic guys must have big legs. Not true of Physique.

However, none of this proves anything regarding who is more jacked.

if sirgay is just under 6'1" then he is too big for classic physique

OK I see your point. Where is the source of information on his actual weight at the contest this weekend? Even so, this would be more a case of "he tricked the system" rather than a general statement about these two competition categories. Darrem Charles downgraded from Bodybuilding to Classic last year (and won) but I guarantee you that he would never have considered going into a show wearing Board Shorts. Nor would they have let him.
-

he would do what calum von moger and chris burmfield did (shed tons of wieght and be lean as hell on stage)
i bet his stage weight was around 200-205lbs at 6'1'' he could compete in mens classic and do very well.
sergi has a bad ass build and he is smart to play and parlay his popularity status onto the stage. he is a world wide fitness model, his name plate is going to help him place every freakin time (good for him cuz bodybuilding is political)

He definitely deserved it. Just wanted to clarify how it came to pass.

Thanks for that.

He has an amazing physique.
I notice guys with weaker legs like him have better abs. Should have not trained legs so hard all my life :D
