Title: Scientists are questioning the idea that the human lifespan has a limit

BB related since the longer the lifespan, the more time to getbig.

Scientists are questioning the idea that the human lifespan has a limit

The authors of these pieces argue that the original analysis relied on statistics that were incomplete or analyzed in a way that led to a false conclusion. They suggest two alternatives: We either don't have enough data to know if the human lifespan has a limit, or the plateau is closer to 125 than 115.

"The available data are limited, there aren't that many supercentenarians," Maarten Pieter Rozing, a professor at the University of Copenhagen who co-authored one commentary, told The Scientist. "And I think there are no strong arguments that show there is a decline [in the rate at which lifespans are increasing]."

Unfortunately every muscle, joint and organ has its limit. I think after we've hit our natural growth period we are technically dying as everything is on the decline

correct in 89bc most lived roughly 22 to 28 years because of illness sexual, natural disease because we had no cures and they had no idea what theses diseases were. as time goes on we do live longer because we have medicine and health knowledge ...

That seems right it being more like 125.  It's rare for folks to get that old today, but there are some folks that do so it's been repeatedly demonstrated.

Now I'm just waiting for one of my usuals to raise a specific objection based on my post?   Let's wait and see....

Around 125 is probably the absolute limit.

They say people are living longer but all I seem to see and hear of these days is people dying early from cancer. The statistic is now 1 in 2 will get it

The sacred scriptures already told us humans can live up to 140 years. Scientis are reinventing what has been told to us, thousands of years ago.

Average lifespan is thought to possibly decrease in our lifetime, what with the rising rates of obesity n all.

Lifespan extension in the literal sense is misguided.  No use in living long if the last 10-20 years of life are riddled with disease.

Compression of morbidity is what we should be aiming for, ie: reducing the time between the onset of chronic disease and death.  We should all hope to have 80 years of active, healthy lives before dying peacefully in our sleep one night.

Exactly as I suspected and per the norm incorrect.

Life isn't worth having if your health is failing and pain and suffering becomes a daily reality.

Me, I'm 47, and I feel about the same as when I was 25, but my recovery time from intense training is greater, no question. But still growing stronger.

I assume when I'm above, say, 75-80, I'll be happy to jump off this ride. Wouldn't be surprised if I keel over much sooner, though. Just ... because. No big thing. Men in my family tend toward aneurysms. Hardly ever heart disease/attacks.

Agreed we are all dying from about 20 years of age, just takes a while with most
