Title: Wrestlers
Post by: Brixtonbulldog on April 07, 2006, 11:05:40 AM
How do people get started in professional wrestling?

I'm 5'10" .. does that make me too short?

I assume most of em take steroids at least sometimes.... what are the rules of the sport (yes I know it's fake)?

I would suggest starting at a small local organization . Are there any where you live? You are not too small, but you won't be able to play a Goldberg type.

I would say most wrestlers don't take steroids, but most of the famous ones you see on TV do. I've been to a few local matches (amateur wrestling) and a lot of them looked like they didn't even work out. They were hardcore as hell, breaking shit over each other, blood, etc. But none of them looked anywhere near a juiced up pro. These guys make up the majority of wrestlers overall.

Lucius will teach you in his backyard kiddie pool.  Of course it will be filled with jello and you may only wear a thong, but he promises a happy ending.

You need to go to a "wrestling school" there are schools all over the US, you just need to find one in your area. Most schools will train you in 3-6 months (at a cost of 3 to 6K) and then you will have a match in the local indy federation that the school is affiliated with. Spend 3-5 years in the "Indy leagues" and then if you are any good, the WWE and or TNA will notice you. Then you get a tryout with a bigger organization and they will determine if you can cut it ir not.

It takes years to get to the WWE unless you are a freak of nature physically, at 5'10" you will have your work cut out for you, unless you can pick it up like Rob Van Damme of WWE fame.

The extravagant blood is from simple aspirine.

If you eat a couple of it, it makes blood don't clot that easily, so the wound stays open for a longer period of time.

A pool is not a good place to do wrestling. I would suggest you get a mat.

Find out where your local wrestling school is (every local promotion has one) and ask for a try out. Tell them you know it's fake that you wish to be a WWE superstar. This will let them know you mean business.

Next assure them that your hours of televison viewing have prepared you as well as any amateur/olympic background would and tell them to " Bring it".

Best of luck in your new endeavour.

the percent of actually becoming a professional wrestler is so low your better off going to college and pursuing a REAL career.

The #1 essential step to becomming a professional wrestler would be to hire a great trainer/ex wrestler like Vincent Goodrum.... that way you can assure yourself of stardom on the flea market circuit, attain a horrible physique, and end up with a career as a bee pollen salesman.

He should follow his dream, but like you said, he needs a backup plan too.

thats exactly what Cena did and got "picked up" by the WWE, it didnt hurt he juiced beforehand and was a bodybuilder before he ever saw a ring....

for a guy your height you'd have to be one of those high flying guys, off the top ropes, crazy kicks, and flips... otherwise it'll be hard to get noticed
