Lately I've been putting uncooked oatmeal in a blender and make a powder before cooking it. I love the way it comes out and with some added Muscle Milk after it;s cooked gives it the taste and texture of bread pudding. My question....Does blending the raw oatmeal into a power compromise on the fiber content in anyway. I hear that Steel Cut is one of the best and I was wondering if I'm loosing the fiber content by powerding it? Any experts or just guesses?

This topic has already been adressed I believe by Princess L, something about your body is better able to absorb the minerals when it's cooked rather than when it's raw.....to a significance of anykind, I dunno.
Anyways, it will definitly give you the runs......

I've been eating a bowl or 2 a day for the past 10 years. No runs. I don't think you understand my question. It's always cooked, but powered before cooking. Does that cause it to loose any fiber content. That was the question.

I would think it would, slightly, just as steel cut is better than regular oatmeal. Any processing of the grain is going to degrade it somewhat. That being said, I do just what you do. I've been grinding it into batter every morning for several months because I got so sick of eating it and I've developed a near psychotic waffle craving while dieting. I suppose one way to look at it would be if the benefits of it diminished after grinding. I monitor my cholesterol closely and there's been no change since I switched.

guys make your oatmeal with half milk half water and a tsb of brown sugar.....its bomb

I don't think blending it will do anything, steel cut has better fiber content because it is not pre-cooked.
-
insoluble maybe but id imagine soluble would be teh same

What of pre-made oatmeal. Like Quaker? Can you have that, or should you have raw oats, chopped and eatten that way?

lot of sugar in those kinds, id just stick to regular or instant oats without all the flavors....use fruit instead

Fiber is a carb that our body cannot digest. Blending or griding the oats does not separate the fiber from the digestible carbs. It does not destroy the fiber. So, go ahead and blend or grind the oats. You are not affecting the fiber or GI.
About benefits of cooked vs raw foods, it depends on the food. Some foods, such as tomatoes, spinach, etc. are better cooked. Others are better raw. In the case of oats, it doesn't matter.

I've been eating raw oatmeal every morning for years. I simply pour some oats into a bowl, add milk, let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, then dig it. Sometime I add a few prunes, raisins or cinnamon... yummy!

i'm telling you guys....plain instant oatmeal packets...rip open, pour half into your mouth, swish with water and down...then do the same to the other half..
Repeat process til you have enough carbs for that meal..
This is easy, no mess, no taste, no bloat, no bullshit.....Anyone else doing this?

I use plain oats.1 cup, throw some splenda in it, and im good.
The pre made oats, flavored are shit..full of sugar..not good.
