No ,not really. Dex isn't anywhere near what he used to be , not bad as Kevin but he's no threat to Phil and neither is any of the other guys competing. Phil is skating through his reign with very lackluster competition , not his fault but he beats Haney/Ronnie's record , who cares , not much of an accomplishment when you consider he's never really been pushed

He doesn't look as good. He looks clearly better in 2008.

Does anyone care for the Mr O anymore...besides some 40+ oldies who like bodybuilding...I mean, do they even sell bodybuilding mags anymore? Where does the price money come from? How many people attend the Mr Olympia 5-10 000?

Arrogant as feasibly possible but he does have a complete physique. No weak areas, calves and back are actually particularly good but he does not deserve to break the Olympia record.

But it's dying in the USA

no its bigger than ever in the usa. as evident of no of contests, no of people competigin, no of difference divisions, prize money, size of expo, people attending etc etc

if you want to refute this you will have to show the opposite to be true, you can start with an explanation that a dying sport, like mr olympia, has the highest prize money in contest history, the reasonable thing would be the opposite - sorry mr phil heath, but we're not making the money we used to, and because of that we can no longer give you 400 000 dollars!

but as  i said, its more popular than ever, more money coming in etc which explains WHY the prize money is at the all time highest.

im awaiting your explanation, or you could just listen to reason and agree with me.

Well I'll say this, the QUALITY of the amateur and professional bodybuilders is MUCH lower than it was in the 90's.

And based on that, almost everyone that posts at getbig has nearly zero excitement at contest time.

Who pushed Haney?

Labrada who actually beat Haney in the posing rounds. Beckles in 85 beat Haney in a round , Yates who beat him in the muscularity round in 91.

I give Phil credit , he's managed to stay injury free and comes in pretty much in shape every year. But he's never really been pushed , Kai could have given him a run but who the hell knows what he's up to.

the result was never in doubt when Haney stepped onstage, in 86 he had one call out...

the posing round has never really meant anything, it should, but doesnt effect the outcome.

If free posing mattered that much, Labrada and Ray would have been in front of Haney every time.

All rounds are physique rounds , including the posing rounds. Historically they didn't count until 2001 , However I've stated many times there is this myth that Haney was untouchable and dominant , He really wasn't. Haney didn't really have a great big guy to give him a run for his money until Yates. Christian could have but he was like in the legs , Demey looked fantastic albeit to light , Strydom was his first big threat and he was a bust

I dont understand the point you are now trying to make.
Heath has much bigger guys to contend with, in fact a lot look better than he does in my eyes.

Haney was dominant because he had no one that could come close to his size and shape.

Heath has lots of guys out-sizing him yet still has no competition?

Really?

Heath has no competition because all of his competitors aren't as complete as he his. He's simply the most complete with the least amount of flaws , he presents the best overall package. Again not his fault but Heath isn't exactly faced any stiff competition, I recall the Wolf fan boys hailing him as the next Olympia winner , Ramy , Beyeke , Shawn , all of them busts

Haney was exactly the same.... you are not establishing a relevant difference between the two.

If some consider Haney the greatest Mr Olympia then why not Heath?

Again not exactly. Haney was tested , he had competition , Beckles beat him in a round in 85 , Labrada beat him two rounds in 1990 , Yates beat him in the muscularity round in 91. Who has come close to Heath? His competition is lackluster. It's the same with Dorian Yates , no one ever came close to him either , the difference is his competition was exceptional and that just speaks to his dominance

Heath will beat Ronnie and Lee's records and he'll technically be the greatest of all time but it's not saying much.

Come close?
Some look better than him now, just because the judges are not rewarding them with the placings doesn't mean they dont deserve them.

Go look at some top six lineups, Heath doesnt stand out as the obvious winner, now go look at Haneys top six, hes always the clear winner.

Some look better than Heath now in some poses , collectively no. Same with Heath in the top 6 line-ups , depending on the poses , Some are obviously better taken as a whole no one is close. And depending on the year for Haney because in 1990 he was way off and could have lost

We can argue about this all day, fact remains Haney had as much chance of being dethroned as Heath, which was next to none.
Heath is dominant and so was Haney, the only difference is Haney was and is a nice guy, Phil comes across as a douchebag, this is why Haney is regarded by some as the best ever and Heath the worst ever.

Like most, I don't  follow it closely anymore. However, I remember there used to be a pro circuit with shows in various cities around the country. Does this even exist anymore?

I also remember the New York pro show, formerly, the night of champions, which used to be held in the Beacon theater, capacity 3500. It was then moved to a venue downtown with a capacity of about 1000. After that, it was moved to hotel banquet hall in New Jersey. Now, I believe it's held in some strip club, with the opening act being some chick who blows ping-pong balls out of her twat.

I agree on this one.

Nobody really "pushed" Haney outside of Gaspari, and that was all on condition, and he wasn't going to win unless Haney totally messed up.  Yates challenged and would have beaten him after, but that was only in the final year.   They year he f'd his condition was on him, not because of his competitors.
