Definition of "Sport:"
"an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."
Now, when looking at each individual component of the above definition, bodybuilding would classify as a sport.
--Bodybuilders exhibit physical exertion when lifting weights and it does take a certain amount of skill to successfully deadlift or squat.
--Bodybuilders (individuals) do compete against each other for entertainment.
The "downside" is that the physical exertion and/or skill does not take part at the same time they are competing against each other. So, in that regard, bodybuilding would not be a sport.
This is a great dilemma.

Posing requires both physical exertion and skill.
There we go.

Oh come on.....reaching for crumbs here. Bodybuilding is NOT a sport. Powerlifting is...Olympic Lifting is. Hell...even CROSSFIT competition is a sport. But bodybuilding competition is not a sport. I competed many times and I never considered it a sport. It is a form of a beauty pageant. A pageant in which muscular size and symmetry are the top point scorers.

i am offended by people calling it a sport.
engaging in a sport, thats below me.

Was wondering when you were going to show up. I was comparing it to that of a beauty contest.
-
but both are judged subjectively?
One is a skill the other isn't.
-
the sport is in the gym, onstage its performance art...if done properly that is.
-
One is a skill the other isn't.
i suppose. but then an awful lot of stuff would be considered sports, maybe they are, bowling, video gaming, pole dancing etc

Boxing is VERY subjective when there is no KO.

yes

Boxing is VERY subjective when there is no KO.
Your assertion of 'VERY' is subjective.
Does subjectivity have degrees? Can one opinion be more of an opinion than another? Hmmmm.

On a ten-point scale, 0 being not subjective at all (guided solely by objective data) an 10 being totally up to the whims of personal opinion with zero objective data, I would say boxing is a 7-8 (not including KO).

Are you saying that posing is not a skill? I am sure you have seen Bob Paris pose and others. It IS A skill.

The ironic part is that Paul Dillett, an actual athlete who played in the CFL, cannot pose. He therefore had subpar posing skills.
-
Its merely a pageant, nothing sporting about it. Unless "ghey" is a sport.
Training is just training, like all athletes do. A NFL player doesn't say his gym time is his sport, its just training.
BB's train, then get up on stage for their pageant / contest.
-
I remember watching a Frank Zane 4 minute video of him posing. Who today can pose for more than 60 seconds without colapsing?

Most agree who the winner is among real boxing fans.

QFT but then again we have all seen the lazy gym trainer who responds amazingly to drugs while taking it easy in the gym.
