Yes. According to the most recent story from DNAInfo (https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20170517/garfield-park/facebook-live-torture-jordan-hill-tesfaye-cooper-tanishia-covington-brittany-covington-hate-crime), they were indeed charged with a hate crime:

They are also, as of today, still in prison awaiting trial. The alleged attack was eight months ago. Hope this helps.

Funny how they talked about this on the news for about 2 min of one day yet if it was reversed it would still be talked about daily.
