We don't even have a massive influx of Muslim "refugees" yet. Yet.

Highly depressing.
3rd world and gdp have nothing to do with each other. 3rd world just means weren't aligned with the soviets or the yanks during the cold war

Maybe some states need to recede.

Sooner than most people think... yes.
Media and government (the same thing really) lie about everything, especially the state of the economy.

Are you implying moving to the midwest instead of residing in this third world outpost?

Close to one town listed. SI is an entire borough.

PL, you should have posted that in my Living in LA thread. You just gave me some more choices for housing.

Highly depressing.
It's all part of the plan. How can an oppressive world government tak eover the world if the United States is full of patriotic, free men that are armed and prepared to defend their way of life?
-
"Third world" is a bit dramatic but there's something wrong when safety is something you have to be constantly conscious of. It's certainly uncivilized.

Pretty sure were starting the final death wiggle. Every empire falls, sad we probably gave ours away to China.

This mix-in-every-race/ethnicity experiment is a colossal failure.
Its failure is a fundamental acknowledgement that the realities of nature cannot be ignored.
The left/peace-love-and-harmony legions have had their time. Decades.
Successful nations can't govern with the thought being of how we'd like it to be, but rather, how it (we) are.
Too many of too many differing minds cannot hope to maintain and/or achieve peace and harmony. It's impossible.

In all fairness though one of my buddies used to get to fly anywhere for free because his dad was a pilot(which he has been also for a couple of decades). Anyways he took his first trip to LA in the mid 80's and his comment when he came back was he could not believe how many homeless people he saw
Just saying in Cali its nothing new and has been like that for 3 plus decades, we just see it more because we all have access to cameras, video and the ability to view all this shit at our fingertips

Capitalism and its pyramid type qualities requiring an ever growing number of consumers, but on the other end having technology delivering labour efficiencies which result in less jobs for those required consumers eventually doesn't end well and what you are seeing by the decay of modern economies is its slow demise think its bad now fast forward another 10 or 20 years, Gorbachev never thought capitalism was a great idea, he just felt communism was a worse one and appreciated that the two could not co exist. However he did believe capitalism would eventually evolve into a form of corporate governemnt socialism. This is slowly happening now as countries no longer pay attention to debt, and outside of IT and sport the chances of getting rich are pretty much non existent as small business cannot battle the scale and tax advantages of corporates.

That was obamas goal hoping Clinton would finish it off. Low and behold Trump was elected and ruined their plans. The left still trying though.

Yes capitalism works so poorly that even ghetto dindus have access to goods and services that were unavailable to even the richest of the rich just a few years ago.
The only areas where it doesn't work is where there is excessive government intervention: education with out of control tuition costs, the financial system with government sanctioned money printing and healthcare with the same. The excessive intervention also prevents new industries from getting started when old ones become obsolete. That's where you have the unemployment problem. People were saying the same things about jobs when farm technology was taking over. Meanwhile there's four times the population of that era and we have an obesity epidemic among the poor.
