Dudes what are some of your favorite standup comedy specials? I'm on Netflix right now feel like getting some laughs, any recommendations appreciated! Watched Sebastian Manascalco's special, that dude is damn funny especially if you're Italian. They have tons of legends on there like Prior and Kennison. Help a brother out!

Been a while since I used Netflix for comedy specials, but I remember Colin Quinn and Doug Stanhope's stuff being on there. They're always good.
-
Bill Burr, Dave chappelle "killing the softly", Rodney danger field . If I think of more I'll let you know. Jackass 3D was funny too.
-
There is a midget named Brad Miller (I think) who is actually pretty good.
-
Louis CK.

While not a comedy "stand up" special, the Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav was an absolute piss. My wife heard me laughing my ass off on another floor of the house. I have been trying to find an uncensored version of it.

Watch Chris Tucker Live.

Brian Regan

Joe rogan. The end

George Carlin or Bill Hicks. Pick any.
Honorable mention ... Obama State of the Unions, 8 to choose from.
-
He hasn't been big for years, but I have always liked Robert Klein...

Brian Regan

Lots of stand up comics these days use themselves as the butt of the joke so they don't offend anyone, most female stand ups are either fat or ugly so thats the topic of their act.
-
Brian Regan absolutely hilarious and yet somehow 100% clean. Very very difficult to do.
Louis CK seems like a tool who just wants to say shocking things. I see that too often, shock does not equal funny.
The end.

Years ahead of her time . . .

thats the most unfunny thing I have heard...

carlin , prior, rock,meany, the diceman. ya hear. ::) ::) ::) ::)

Funny or not is not the point, its the fact she was WAY ahead of her time.

He is awesome.
Richard Prior is great, Eddie Murphy was great and Robert Schimmel was a riot.
But for my money, the all-time comedic king is Carlin. Hands-down. His HBO special from 1991 is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Totally forgot Chris. The way he ragged on black people was priceless.
Martin Lawrence was another funny dude. And Don Tickles, for sheer roasting power :)

I'll look up Brian on your recommendation (thank you, BTW), but I don't agree about C.K.
I *do* agree that shocking people is the easiest way to get attention ... The last few generations have heavily leaned on that bullshit, from Madonna's stupid antics in the early 90s to some stupid bitch like Kathy Griffin posing with Trump's decapitated head. Even a hard like Genova can "shock" -- doesn't impress me in the least.
Anyway, I don't see Louis C.K. as thusly limited. I'm curious to know why you think otherwise. Perhaps my memory isn't what it was, but the most "shocking" thing I recall Louis saying was something about how his daughter was an annoying moron :D

the thread is about stand up comedy, its not about being ahead of your time....

that's why i put him first only did one bad routine the second last one when he became too dark... his last routine before his death was a return to form...

Modern comics, most on Netflix/Prime:
CK (God)
Bill Burr (Jesus)
Jim Jefferies (Holy Ghost)
Anthony Jeselnik
John Mulaney
Dave Attell
Norm MacDonald
Colin Quinn
Doug Stanhope
Chris Porter
Al Madrigal
Sebastian Maniscalco
Jim Norton
David Spade
Patton Oswalt
Sarah Silverman
Also, cleaner but still funny:
Jim Gaffigan
Brian Regan
Mike Birbiglia (Acquired taste)
Demetri Martin (Diet Hedberg, sorta)
You guys already covered all the older legends. And I didn't purposely omit gals, just seems very few female stand-ups pull it off.

You nailed it. The late Christopher Hitchens once wrote a piece about how women largely lacked the ability to be funny. Chris was a great mind, and he made many salient observations to support his case, but I cannot wholly agree with his conclusions. For one, I have found some of Sarah Silverman's stuff funny (even if that might be driven by an underlying desire to fuck her senseless, which I've wanted to do since her guest-starring role on a Star Trek episode). And I think my fiancé can be crazy funny.
Still, I reckon they are exceptions to a rule...you want funny? Look to male comedians. Or either gender of SJWs, as you can tolerate them. That piece of shit Jefferson! That jackass Ghandi! Pretty soon their slippery slope will call for anything Reagan did since he smoked in some of his movies, and JFK? LOL. CIC Pussyhound, with all of his exploits, not the least of whom was fucking Marilyn Monroe ... eventually that crab-eyed fucker will be targeted, too.

WOW, JUST WOW! Not one mention of the greatest ever in Eddie Murphy. Delirious and RAW are the best ever.

I will say one thing, there is a female comedian named Rachel Feinstein, she is a very hot and she is funny as fuck. Saw her live a couple of years ago and was crying. And she's hot. Too bad she is friends with that amy girl schumer. She is way funnier and sexier.

Thing is, I find plenty of women funny. Julia Louis Dreyfus was probably first - hilarious on Seinfeld. Not funny "for a girl," just legit f'n funny. Then it was mostly 90s (and beyond) SNLers: Cheri Oteri, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Kate McKinnon, and Vanessa Bayer are/were fantastic; Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, and Ana Gasteyer could also be good, depending on the skit. Also think Melissa McCarthy is pretty damn funny, too.
But none of them do stand-up, far as I know.
And, yeah, we're all supposed to bow at the thrones of Radner, Curtain, and Newman, but their stuff hasn't aged well. Roseanne Roseannadanna had me rolling at 11, but I couldn't even sit through it today. Someone wanna recommend a funny female stand-up, I'm more than willing to watch.

Browsed thread quickly, figured he'd already been covered. 'Delirious,' at the time, had me in tears. EVERYONE recognized he was comedy's next-level genius. Same with Chappelle after 'Killin' Them Softly' in 2000.

Dude,
Best One right Now on Netflix are the four Specials done by Bill Burr, He's ranked #5 in the world as Best Comedians and He is So!
Old School, No Holds Barred and not afraid to say what he thinks, The Man is a SJW/Feminist Nightmare!
Watch them from oldest to newest and laugh your ass off!!....The Man is a Genius! ;D
-
Chidoman: Did not know of him. Been listening to him for 2 hours now. Funny as hell!!! Thanks. :D

Dude's brilliant, though a bit disappointed with his last special. Norton's too.
But CK's still batting .1000, no question.

yes but his comedy will live on forever.
