Are these a good deal? Tips?
I live in a white area so there are not many people picking through it or being germy.
-
It cost $6.00/lb here. That is a good deal for the cooked chicken or steak by itself even?
-
It's a rip off
Everything is heavy-there's no winning

I would advise you to stay away from ALL salad bars and/or buffets. I assume they are a "containers" of germs! :-X :-X :-X

No doubt someone sneezed or coughed while looking at it.
-
Well, for one, you never know what the public will do to a buffet or salad bar, especially teenagers. Good luck with that.
You're also wrong about it boosting your immune system. From Harvard Health. Tips on how to boost immune system. You're wrong. Just accept it and move on. There is no indication below that one has to expose oneself to germs at an adult age to build an immune system. But, as a getbigger, you surely know more than Harvard Health!
https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/how-to-boost-your-immune-system
Don't smoke.
Eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in saturated fat.
Exercise regularly.
Maintain a healthy weight.
Control your blood pressure.
If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
Get adequate sleep.
Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
Get regular medical screening tests for people in your age group and risk category.

I live in a rich suburb of Atlanta. I am the most unhygienic person to visit the salad bar here.
-
you don't think that exposure to germs boosts your immune system?
i never said it would build an immune system, christ i'm arguing with morons here.
those harvard health guidelines amount to: "stay in a completely sterile environment and reduce stress through antioxidants and sleep". well, yeah, no shit... if there are no germs around you you're not getting sick.
it doesn't refute or even attempt to counter what i said.

I used "Built" in the last paragraph--I used "boost" in the 2 previous lines. A play on words.
Well, no shit, germs exist in the real world. You expose yourself to germs every day you leave your home, dingus by touching a door handle, biting your nails, etc. But, one should not purposely expose themselves to environments where there could be an overabundance of germs, such as salad bars or buffets. That is idiotic. If exposure to germs continually boosts ones immune system, then exposure to every day life events is more than enough. Its an unnecessary "hazard" to expose oneself to potential germs in a salad bar or buffet and I can bet no reasonable doctor would recommend this.
So, yes, I will concede the fact that I used the wrong terms by saying that germs does not boost immune system--you are most likely correct. Obviously, we are all exposed to germs. However, to say that it is okay to visit a salad bar to build an immune system, is idiotic advice. There is more danger to such an approach and all places (salad bars or buffets) should be avoided.

plenty of people consume food from salad bars without these schizophrenic fears and don't succumb to whatever lethal germs (MRSA? lmao) you think are lurking there.
-
I'll pass. It's disgusting. You should heed my advice.
-
I haven't had a cold in 2 years and I don't avoid salad bars.
Big Lenny hasn't had a cold in 15 years and he does some very disgusting things :-X

Depends on how 'fresh' they are and if the store has good reviews.
Out here, the ones from Whole Foods, or Gelson's do very well, a lot of people use them, and they are fresh and look clean. With nary a report on how terrible they are. Obviously, the need to be clean.
I would go into a store and eat from one that is rarely used, or looks that way.
Price differs. It can get from $6.99 a pound to $8.99, so you need to be careful what you put on there. My son wanted white rice, and pasta, which cost us close to $13 for a small amount. You need to know what is worthwhile and what is not.

Botulism, salmonella, e-coli....worse than all that people/kids sticking their fingers in everything there. Would love to see a cam set up at one of these over a full day to see how many finger that stuff. Nasty.

Who eats salad?? You guys are supposed to be eating grilled red meat, chicken ,eggs and potatoes. Should be no room for salads. ;D

Not everyone has the constitution of a 90-year-old man

reason so many kids are ill these days is that kids no longer eat dog shit.

Exactly

Just make it up yourself, very easy. I made a large pack of steak yesterday for like $12.00 (3 huge thick pieces), and a huge salad (not even 6.00) that goes in a Tupperware.
For work all week I bring a salad topped with some steak. (For less than $4.00 a day, its a good lunch). (I normally do it with chicken breast, but had the rare steak yesterday).
Not cooked rare, I rarely ever have one, less than once per month for red meat.
-
Just get your own dressing...they load up the dressings...especially ranch, creamy ceasar, etc to create all that weight as its sold by the pound
Also everything is usually fresh daily except the dressings...so those have been sitting out for days or weeks stewing with germs.
Without dressing it can be a little convenience to get a little salad bar now and then.
-
Depends on where I am
When I worked in lake norman area I'd kill the buffet at harris teeter
They had a breakfast and lunch one
So does Whole Foods here
Unhygienic is having someone else cook and choose your steak

Start 'em off slow, like teaching them NOT to wash their hands after taking a dump

Lord no. I'm surprised there haven't been contamination issues already. You should spray it with gasoline and set it alight just to demonstrate how lacking in security it is.

I am glad most people agree with me.

Stick to proteins & green vegetables, avoid the starches n you'll be ok price wide
If you're really afraid of 'unsanitary' conditions then be prepared never to eat out again.
-
At least use a napkin to handle the utensils. It will cut down on some of the germ exposure.
-
Lots of talk about the hygiene, but do you eat the salad bar corn?
-
I like to masturbate and collect my cum in my hands, then dribble it over the grocery store salad bars.

That must be the umami taste I was getting. Bone Apple Tit

It's called Getbig Icing, and as Bob Chic famously said: "Its the finishing touch".
In fact, I believe that True Adonis has already created a cookbook about the subject.

The store manager was wondering why the whores couldn't get enough of the creamy guacamole.

Update, I bought one of those bags of lettuce, carrot, whatever else mix and sliced mushrooms, a bell pepper and purple onion. I cooked a sirloin, boiled four eggs.
Made four times as much salad for nearly half as much.
