Our other big list from years ago -
http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=441471.0 .
The OL Lifting list -
http://wlforums.com/forums/showthread.php?1899-Weightlifters-who-died-young .
--------------------------------------
More Powerlifters who went before 50 -
OD Wilson - Heart attack.
Matt Dimel - Drug OD.
Gary Aprahamian - Heart.
Nick Winters - Heart.
Doug Furnas - Heart, I think.
Mike Jenkins, Strongman - Heart related.
Glenn Pendley almost died of a big stroke.

Curtis Leffler - Heart Attack
--------------------------------------
Bodybuilders I didn't see listed that went early -
Derrick Whitsett
BJ Johns
Fannie Barrios
Carlos Rodriguez
Robert Schuh
-------------------------------
Joe Roark has a master list. It really would be interesting to see it broken down by age and reason, sadly it would be a lot of work.
-
Art Atwood- heart attack and fell into the pool and died
-
Justin Rhys 35 heart attack
-
Kris DIm- almost died from a burst aorta/heart attack- now paraplegic
-
This list doesn't impress me much, there are many many more still alive. I think the casualty rate seems to be somewhere around 10% and if you take out recreational drugs it's probably lower. I mean think about it, Gaspari is still alive. Isn't he famous for saying "if you're not pissing blood, you're not taking enough?"
-
Andreas Munzer 37 ?cause of death
which other sport has such a high death rate?
-

Andreas Munzer 37 ?cause of death
which other sport has such a high death rate?
Andreas died of multiple organ failure and internal bleeding....mainly liver
-
Munzer was 31 not 37.
-
Why cutoff at 50?
The limit should be higher.
It's not normal to die at 51.
For example Mentzer should be listed.

Nasser El Sonbaty 46 ?heart attack (misdiagnosed malaria)
No way, that had to have been some kind of cardiac issue. I remember he was buried quickly without an autopsy, how would anybody have known if it was malaria?
