Went to a Goodwill this afternoon and normally I'm looking for vintage computers and other quick things to sell but this Annora Spence print lying around. Picked it up for 19 bucks. Took only 20 minutes to clean off the grime and dirt. Whoever owned it had some taste

They are collectibles nowadays. I buy them, fix and clean them, and sell them.

horrible
that looks depressing as fuck
its not art

How vintage are we talking? And when you mean fix them, what does that entail?
-
Ok, I'll bite. That painting (looks like a watercolor) is something that a 9 year old could produce. That is not talent
Fine art is another racket abused by the rich. Inflate the value of some abstract piece of shit, that looks like someone vomited onto a canvas, and then create a premium market.
Just a bunch of douches who have too much time and money.
None of this has anything to do with Goodrum, other then he is a moron, who likes art that belongs on a mom's refrigerator.
-
As previously discovered-you have zero taste or even the slightest clue as to what actual good art is
Someone could take a shit in a bowl and photograph it-and as long it was a low price-you'd rave about it and buy it
-
What is the current market value on that print?

It might make it to the foyer for guests to appreciate if it happens to feature diarrhea sprinkles on top of the main turd.

Prove it. Take a pic holding the painting.

No shit...its a signed 1993 lithograph, otter....definitely worth more than the 19 bucks that I paid for it

Vince Goodrum, CSN, MFT, HHP, CEO, I am wondering if you can try to look for the original Mona Lisa at a goodwill or house sale.

Nice find.

This is what I do on my spare time...go around to flea markets, Goodwill, yard sales, etc and look for hidden treasures to sell for profit. I'm actually going back there tomorrow as there may be some more around the vicinity....I doubt that that was the only one there as the original owner prob had more pieces.

I know plenty of people who do this. I have family members who do this; however, they do not resell. They collect antiques. House is PACKED with antiques. You can barely walk. You can't even see the paint on their wall, since every wall is covered with stuff.

Just have to know what you're looking at more than the person selling it

Vince does goodwill in your area have these bargain bins of stuff you can buy by the lb?
I ask because I have a friend who does that and buys buy the lb at a very low price since the stuff isn't really sorted. Anyway it's a lot of shit but sometimes there are some great finds. She focuses mostly on looking for high end very lightly used women's clothes.
Maybe you could make a profit using this strategy as well, you seem to know what to look for.

Well, antiques are a great investment that always goes up in value over time.....but I don't have an attachment to stuff like this

Have to have a good storefront for that...profit margins are very low.

Omg the bullshit from u
Do u honestly consider yourself the source on this site for flea markets
Nothing u post on here is valuable info for the newer shopper
You're not a guru of bargains holy hell

Well, if they get enjoyment from it then its great. That's what life is all about. They would have definitely have something to pass down to family.
-
Not sure why all the hate...I spend 19 bucks on some artwork which is worth at least 15 times more than what I paid for it. I think I did pretty well

My cousin always say that when my aunt and uncle die, she is just going to throw everything away. lol
No joke, my aunt and uncle must have anywhere between 500K to 1 million dollars in antiques.

Just some kidding around, Vince, Well done!
Please allow me, for the official catalog:
The Goodrum Collection of fine art now includes 1 and 00/100 pieces from Annora Spence, whose work, much like its collector, depicts eccentric weirdos.
The list either will or will not go on.

Like I said previously, good find. However, I doubt it is worth what you think. On Amazon this print, framed, sells for a little over $50. It is also available matted and framed on Ebay for just under $100.
One of the problems with silk-screened lithographs, like this one, is that they are printed in such huge quantities that it devalues them. Is your purchase a numbered or signed print? This might bring up the value some.
What is most important is whether you like it. If you do, than what it is worth shouldn't matter.

....
That's the price for an unsigned print whereas I have a signed one however you are correct on what the value is compared to what it can sell for but it still profit either way. The good thing is that while there was a number of them printed, they are no longer produced as they are now in the Original Archive. But I like being the owner of European artwork....better to have this on my wall than some Che Guevara, Dogs Playing Cards, or a picture of some trees.
At this point, I could realistically get 200 right now for it. Its really up to the market. I'll end this thread with a selfie of me in my new Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress shirt flexing. Still waiting for you to post yours Shizzo.

That lithograph looks like the work of a talented 7 year old. The snobs of the fArt world are so coooool. Sheesh, what a bunch of 'tards. They probably frown at the work of Wyeth and kowtow in praise of this mistress of the Crayola® while a rebel like Serrano makes 'em genuflect, but given their hatred of anything remotely reverent on can understand why.
All the best in selling it, V³. The fArt world is loaded with Star-Bellied Sneetches just waiting to be separated from their moolah! ;D

Nice pair of Chuck Taylor red Converse sneakers. I should pick up a pair of them. Aren't they about $50? I worn holes in my lime green and yellow pairs of keds. This season, Ked's went with muted colors which aren't as much of a kick to wear.

Haters gonna hate, nice find Vince, and good eye, I wouldn't even know what that is if I walked by it.
Wife and I like to do that (antique shops, flea markets). Never know what you'll find.
I recently sold a pair of Jackson Globe dumbbells (40's) for $450.00, some folks are hardcore collectors and will pay what it takes to get stuff.

;D Thank you, TS! Very astute pick up.
Goodrum is a Poesque practitioner of payback who also lives up to the Dumasian dictum that, "vengeance is sometimes delayed, but only that it may fall the more effectually."
He spit on you. Get over it!
The Count of Fists and Crisco, a revenge tale of how one man's spit turned into another man's spite.
I shudder to imagine what macabre forms of reprisal will take shape now that Vince is acquiring culture, for his is a protractedlapsed game of cat and gerbil.

Yes, Taffin, whispers used to emerge from the demimonde of Sylva that Mssr. Goodrum is a collector of sorts who refers to his immured treasure trove as The Ass Menagerie.
-
Its a very selective market...last finds I had was a Tandy 200 along with some Magnavox Odyssey games still in the box. Fixing them usually entails some solder work on resistors but usually not much stuff. Main thing is to clean them. Sometimes even non working items have a lot of value.
Just have to know what you're looking at more than the person selling it
What soldering equipment do you use?
-
I also have a habit of going into goodwill/Salvation Army stores looking for antiquities, lately I've only found complete garbage but every once and awhile you may find a good book or collectors item. I usually keep the stuff I find anyways.
