I have a problem with the family next door to me. He beats his wife and screams like a complete idiot up to 7 h aday! I told him to shut the fuck up 3 days ago. Place went silent for 2 days. Now its on again. Fuck i cant take it. Its been going on for 6 months. I dont like to call cops on people etc. But something is horribly wrong here. Wife, kids screaming in fear and i have to listen to that shit. Any ideas?

Do you live in a row home? If you call, they can't pin it on you. Cops tend to be lackadaisical when responding to noise complaints. Domestic disputes are usually taken more seriously.
You're sure it's abuse?... woman tend to rant and rave about lots of things. If the woman is truly being abused you need to report it.

Ok i called. I know its a probably drunk dude living with 2 kids and 1 woman. I hear him screaming all day long but only whining in fear or pain from others. Its very bad. Things are thrown around as well. I live one plane above this. Never heard anything like it in my life before. I also warned him and gave him a fair chance. We will see what happens.

You should definitely take matters into your own hands. Calling the authorities is an absolute last resort.
White knighting your neighbors woman will change her whole life, she'll be so shocked that real men exsisted that she will leave the guy she's with and find a new relationship with a real man.
Call the cops. Repeatedly. The guy doesn't think he's doing anything wrong (and it's likely he will never change) but you need to have this documented. If the cops show up enough they'll at least move.

If you're calm, reasonable and articulate the police will respond... "I'd like to report a domestic disturbance...it's been going on for over an hour and it's escalating... "I'm concerned for the woman and the kids..." Be specific in what you tell them with what you've heard. You may want to report him to child protective services as well. You may also want to start documenting it with dates and times in case you want to get out of a lease or if social services gets involved.

Certainly offer and/or suggest help where it's needed (and where you can reasonably help), but otherwise what purpose does inserting yourself serve?

Did you read his post? He went and spoke with his neighbor and the issue is back again.
Do you really think you're able to reason with someone who beats his wife, to the point that the screams of the woman and children are audible?
How do you reason with someone like this amicably? His method of communication with his wife is violence, violent people do violent acts.
Do you know what police do? If there is domestic violence in a home they document these incidents and they take the perpetrator in to custody. If there is multiple visits they will make someone leave then if this doesn't solve the issue they will get warrants for arrest. Do you see why they need to be called? Documentation.
Cops don't want to show up to the same place over and over for the same issue, they will find a reason to get involved.
And this guy doesn't want cops showing up to his home because he will begin to realize the cops will take him in.

Status is like this now: he kept quiet after i warned him the second time. I also have his verbal attacks recorded. I have not been violent. Just said he needs to respect his neighbours. I know this is on my side. Others are to afraid to do shit. Give me props for showing some balls here while still remaining calm.

Even if it's only a suspicion that his wife and kids are in danger, you should report it to the authorities. Not reporting suspected child abuse is illegal.

Bigger problem is the trauma to the kids. Adults can choose? their existence to a certain degree as disfunctional as it is. Kids cannot. A community stance may be more appropriate here. That means a group of men go to him and tell him of Their disapproval of the treatment of his family. Calmly spell it out to him what you (collectively) disapprove of. Then tell him that each and every one of you WILL call the police and child protective services every single time you hear him threatening and being abusive (physical and verbal). Our street had a similar situation down the road. Every person went to local police and individually reported their anticts . Also involved local politician. Kept the pressure on. Authorities have little power without enough 'evidence' to build a case. End result.... arrests were made and evictions of multiple tenants occurred...
