Title: Keto//os drink
Post by: Dave D on September 18, 2017, 01:38:28 PM
Has anyone heard of this? It puts your body into a state of ketosis.

Is there science behind this or just another gimmick?

Sounds like a gimmick.

That's my thought as well. My friends wife sells this stuff, like you would advocare, and he was going on and on about how effective it is.

To get into ketosis you need to abstain from carbs and burn up all of your glycogen. At least that's how I understand things.

File this drink under too good to be true.

HAHAHAHA This was my first comment to him when he told me about this. I literally couldn't understand what he was suggesting

It's real, but probably could be described better. To create ketones in your body, you need to be burning fat heavily. That happens when you lower the carbohydrate content of your diet. The body burns ketones as fuel very nicely once you adapt to a low carb diet.

By ingesting ketone compounds directly you get a similar effect. You are not burning carbs, you are burning ketones. That is a good thing because your insulin levels do not spike.

Quite a bit of this is discussed in a Patrick Arnold blog, the genius chemist who created the special steroids for Barry Bonds.

What is even more beneficial is there is significant research showing a diet high in ketones can cause cancer cells to die, even if you consume carbs.

It's a nutritional supplement. Of course it's a scam.

If you add your exogenous ketones to your system it's pointless because then you will not be using your own ketones fuel you, something along those lines, Palumbo explained this in one of his ask Dave segments.

Worthless scam

They can discontinue all the peer reviewed research programs now- Vince has spoken from Mount Olympus, lol

But for the scientifically inclined out there, you may find this very interesting (2017 publication):
