Title: McGregor's dehydration protocol
Post by: Rimstinger on September 20, 2017, 08:44:38 AM
What does this guy do?

For the Mayweather fight he turned up looking like a dried up prune and on fight night he was twice the size of Mayweather.

Sauna? Diuretics?

I understand the desire to chase the big money but I would have loved to see McGregor fight 4 or 5 more times at 145.

He had the height and reach advantage, granite chin, big left hand, awkward southpaw style. Just spectacular.

Sauna, diuretics, laxatives, cardio, salt and water and carb manipulation, drinking distill water, etc. etc. Goolge it, some fighters can gain up to 30 pounds.

I went from 108kg to 118kg in a week after depleting to 108kg for a powerlifting competition

Yeah some people can do it, and recover other can’t and their strength or endurance goes to shit. That is why some fighters have to fight close to their natural weight.

Why are we still talking about this fucking fraud? ::)

After that pathetic display a few weeks ago, one would think he would have the common decency to commit suicide.

Leave all that unearned money to some charity.

He will dominate either 145 or 155.  I think 155 is where people start taking fighters more seriously.  As a fight fan myself, it's hard for me to get excited watching 145-lb guys fight each other, knowing that I would lay waste to them.

I'm kidding.  ;D

But seriously, for fans to look at the fighters as supermen, fighting in the heavier classes will do that.  I'm not even certain that McGregor can make 145 anymore, but he can certainly make 155, and he would dominate that division.  Moving up to 170, when I don't think he has ever had a walking around weight above 180 would be difficult.  Georges St-Pierre would walk around at 184, and that was considered small for a welterweight.  It's funny how much of a difference 10-20 pounds will make at the world level.

You joke, but I prefer watching bigger guys fight. If I want to watch tiny tots fight, I can go to any local drive bar.  ;D

Powerlifter (also ifbb pro) Amit Sapir hired some MMA weight cut expert once, missed weight anyway that time.
I think at some time he tried IV rehydration also after weigh-ins.

Powerlifter Chris Duffin couldn't grab the bar at some meet because his hands swelled so much rehydrating.

Some powerlifter named Sam Byrd used the hot bath/shower method to cut some crazy weight.

Elitefts had some good advice by som doc. One thing he said is not introduce much sodium at first rehydrating, can be dangerous, no pedialyte just plain water. Then half and half and so on.

How about they try fight at their own natural weight? Or at least have weigh-ins on the day of the fight to prevent this BS.

been saying this all along

and van, i cut 9 pounds in less than 12 hours to make weight for a bench press meet and then gained back 12 after 12 hours which was 3 pounds more than my walking around weight

so my body over compenstated and i put on 3 more pounds than my regular every day weight
