Title: NFL players want the league to honor social activism

I guess they want to kill the league off completely. Going to be interesting when free agency comes up

If this leads to teams not wasting 10 minutes of our lives with a National Anthem before every game then I'm all for it.

We live in a world where race, religion, sex and politics is injected into EVERYTHING.  It's all done on purpose to get people aggravated, frustrated, annoyed, etc.  The main stream media's job is to keep the sheeple divided, and they are very good at it.

Sports are completely meaningless

It's meant to be entertaining and this shit is anything but.

Blacks tend to be less computer literate than whites and as a result the organizers of this  don't seem to get that the Internet has created many other entertainment options and the big time pro sports don't have the market cornered anymore.

Anyone with half a brain and an eye for trends should've moved on from pro sports and Hollywood entertainment,  for that matter,  a while ago.  I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theater or a sports stadium. Blacks and liberals simply ruin everything they touch and this is no different.

Football is an alpha male sport that is violent. Rush Limbaugh called that it was going to be attacked for what it was maybe 10 years ago. Now they call everything CTE so it's only a matter of time before it totally changes the sport. It's kind of amazing that boxing and MMA are still around but NFL has ALL the money and a million bloodsucking lawyers just hoping to rep a retired player at this point. The Hernandez CTE thing is a game changer.

When it's civil and not based on a lie.

When it's civil and not based on a lie.

I mean, just saying "its not based on a lie" is very subjective. How do you determine if its based on a lie or not? Should we assume X is a lie because you say so?

We just had eight years of a black president and a black justice department. There are black congressmen and women, black governors, black mayors and black police chiefs. There is zero state sanctioned institutional racism in the country. What exactly are these guys bitching about?

Social Activism contends with many different social issues.

Did they ever state if specific Social Activities will be attended to during this month?

When I think of Social Activism, I don't think of "kneeling for the pledge" or some of the issues that football players are calling out. My mind takes a completely different pathway when thinking about Social Activism.

I'd like to know if there will be a SPECIFIC agenda associated with a Social Activist month? Or, will it just be kept general?

Coach was not specific, which is why I asked him what was wrong with Social Activism, as a general principle, since the article did not mention specific social activism activities.

edit: I just read that what they want and its VERY specific, and I do not agree with it. I think it should be kept general, if it is implemented--I do think social activism is extremely important and would have no problem with the NFL implementing a Social Activist Month, however, there should be no specific agenda.  I usually dont read sport articles, since I find sports to be a monumental waste of time, but figured Id give it a quick look over since I commented.

OK, I read it too. For those who don't want to waste their time and yes it is a waste of time, they're essentially blaming all the problems of the black community on the police and various institutions, everything and everyone but themselves. So, if white people create a world according to the exact specifications of blacks, then maybe just maybe they'll act like civilized human beings that belong in a first world country in the 21st century. Like I said in my original post it's just rationalizing a failed culture. The change has to come from within and that's not gonna happen.

At this point, any white person would have to be a fool to watch an NFL football game again.

I admit that before I called out Coach, I did not read the article, thus was unsure if they had a specific agenda in mind, which they do (Player Activism for Racial Equality and Criminal Justice Reform). I don't get why they can't keep it general. Or, better yet, just allow each player to decide what Social Activity they want to be engaged in. But, don't implement a SPECIFIC agenda assigned to a month.

Ive been part of a few organizations that have engaged in Social Activism, and I loved it! I plan to serve on more. Of course, it was for very specific social activity, however, these organizations were developed for that specific cause. But, the NFL, well, its just playing football! Just play football!

Their premise is bullshit. They got what they wanted in Chicago and you're seeing the results. The problem is Blacks in groups can't act like civilized human beings.

Even the data on one of the most obvious possible causes—a sudden shift in policing tactics—offers little clarity. Street stops had been in steady decline since early 2014, when they peaked at 80,000 stops per month. By October 2015, they reached 60,000 per month and then plummeted sharply to 10,000 stops by December 2015. At first glance, that would seem to correlate with the sudden surge of in 2016.

At this point, I believe the league is about 75% black. So, the owners have to indulge this stupidity. I don't. It's very easy to get along with out pro sports. I used to be a big New York Yankees fan. I haven't watched a single game this year and haven't missed it.

Fuck the NFL for life.  I hope it goes bankrupt and shuts down so all it's players go back to their normal jobs......robbing liquor stores.

Sport fans will try to convince people that sports are a necessary requirement for society--they will point to the fact that sports brings in revenue for cities/states. I guess this is correct. However, society wouldn't collapse without sports. We will always find ways to generate revenue. Personally, I don't see the relevance of sports. It may be useful at a young age to teach children cooperation, etc. However, I don't see pro sports to be necessary for society.
