Title: How much water??
Post by: Simple Simon on October 08, 2017, 07:06:30 AM
lots of theories on how much water people should drink.
Seems to be since they started selling water in bottles to be fair...

So, how much water?
Do you drink tap water?
Do you add soda and hot drinks to your total?

Me, I dont really keep count, I drink a lot of fresh juices and sodas, a few coffees, not much actual water..

Maybe about 6 pints a day..

When I'm prepping I up the water a bit though.

Used to do the daft drink a set amount of water at set times shit. Now I just wait till I feel thirsty I’ll fill a pint glass out the tap and drink it and repeat next time feel thirsty. Can’t be bothered with the set 1 gallon+ a day nonsense.

On warm days at work often get 2 litre bottle of pop at dinner time also

About a gallon of club soda water a day.  I got one of those soda stream things and make my own from dual filtered water, drink it cold.  Got sick of drinking regular water.

I don't really keep track but I'd venture a guess of 1/2 to 3/4 gallon a day. I'll usually have a coffee or two a day , around 1/4 gallon milk (in shakes) a day, and 2 energy drinks. I rarely drink alcohol and never drink soda - unless you count energy drinks as such.

i wake up at around 5am and from 5am to 8pm I try t drink at least 1 gallon of water (work out, cardio in the AM) and then if i do hot yoga consume another gallon around a few hour time window in the evening

i do not count soda as water intake, i do my best to stretch a 2 litre soda all the week

i drink tap water, is it worth to check out the floride or test your tap water? taste fine to me

i do sometimes add cucumbers or strawberries in my gallon of water

1ltr upon waking

1ltr w/ pre training meal

1.5ltr during training

500ml pre bed

Other than that it is as and when, normally a small glass with each meal.

a sign of clear urine is that you are drinking too much water.

How much water do you drink, and how much would you advise a client?

PS I don't diet guys for shows.

Ooo this should be a good answer...

Client:"Hey coach ESF, i hear that you need 3g of water per 1g of carbs for proper and efficient assimilation and conversion to muscle glycogen; not to mention the need to exploit the delicate relationship between sodium & potassium to acheive maximum definition, what say you?"

ESF: "Well in the joint.....I shanked a guy who spilled my drink.....aint nobody making ESF's piss all yella' I said!  Just drink till you pee clear man, now that will be $20 please."

A slight tangent:

1) I remember Dr. Ellington Darden (the HIT guy), writing about how ice water cost calories because of the bodies need to bring it up to body temp - completely useless trivia......

2) I remember Dorian Yates answering the OP's question in an interview rather vaguely - something to the effect of "I drink when I'm thirsty"..................also useless trivia.

Me too.  I should drink much more water - especially given that Thunder Bay is literally right next door to Lake Superior, which is the largest freshwater lake in the world.  Someone once said that the water here is bad, but that's ridiculous.  It can be drank directly from the tap.  It's fine - excellent even.

I need to start drinking more water.

"By the time you notice you're thirsty you are already dehydrated."

By the time I notice I'm hungry am I suffering from malnutrition?  Unless you live in a desert just drink water when you're thirsty or anticipate becoming thirsty from food or exercise.

When I'm prepping I up the water a bit though.

For about a year and a half from 2006 to mid 2007 I was drinking about 12 gallons of water a day. This was on top of the energy drinks and Gatorade my dad would buy me! To make a long story short I ended up in the hospital for a night (contracted an std from Gal Gadot) and had to be on antibiotics. Anyway a hot Asian nurse comes into my room (I recall she weighed 97lbs), to give me my pain meds which I devoured on the spot! She asked if I wanted a glass of water to wash them down; I just gave her a smile and a chuckle and told her a glass of water won't touch my thirst, best save it for someone who needs it.

I drink mostly black coffee nowadays, maybe 20 ounces of bottled water per day. The rest of the water is from fruit and veggies. That's it. Don't have dehydration issues.
