The onboard footage shows that on both runs, Koenigsegg test driver Niklas Lilja, accelerated very slowly, evidently in an attempt to avoid any high-speed wheel spin. It isn’t until about 186 mph (300 km/h) that he plants his right foot to the floor, launching the road-legal rocket down the road at frightening speeds. In fact, it only takes about 10 seconds for the Swedish hypercar to accelerate from 300 km/h to 400 km/h and on the return run, hit 284.3 mph (457.5 km/h) with relative ease.

Good everyday
build car, easy to maintain.

What if an armadillo or some shit cruises out in front of the car?

That's partially why they had the helicopter. They had shut the highway down just for the run. The Helicopter can be used as spotter scoping out the roadway for animals, etc, but ultimately it is not a fast as the car.

The center line dashes we’re going by as a blur. What a rush that had to be.

This can do over 1000 MPH

Great for Swedes when they need to relocate from their overrun cities quickly.
-
That’s got to be very scary.I remember cruising with my dad in his vette and hitting 140 and that was scary.

Would make for a brutal armadillo though, should team up with Sonic.

impressive but useless.

20 years ago there was some hype about the Lamborghini Diablo, for passing the 200mph barrier.

Meh, not bad...what would be even more impressive is for Agera to go head to head against Chiron at the Nürburgring..(just for fun that is)......we would find out which is the King of the track and the Supreme sports car....I guess that would never happen.....but for now, Koenigsegg has bragging Rights until Bugatti can prove they can hit 300mph in a straight line

Diablo is still the best designed Lambor in my opinion, of course.....second place is the Murci......damnit, these Murcis are still expensive as hell and they've been discontinued since 2010.....they still asking 300k minimum, I'll never get mine..... ;D

The Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle can theoretically do over 400 mph, but like this car, that doesn't count for much until someone actually gets it up to that speed. For now, the Thrust SSC still holds the land speed record at 763 mph.

Chiron is a very, very fast ultra luxury GT. It's not a track car. Notice how Ferrari, Mclaren, Porsche, Pagani, Lamborghini, and even Aston Martin and Mercedes are focusing more on track cars and certain stats, and not full top speed? It's been said that doing full top speed is quite easy (spend a whole lot of money), but a track car is harder to make.

Agreed.....I remember Jay Leno had Koenigsegg came to his show not too long ago (jay leno garage) and jay told him point blank that this is not a pure track car and the guy didn't respond to him....hahahahah......bu t many swear Pagani (huayra BC that is) is the only head to head hyper car competitor to Koenigsegg.....
-
don't mess with a car with a French Last name.... ;D
-
Suprised they didn't beat the ring record yet.
Porsche has it now with a car that costs 1/10 of the Koenigsegg. That's winning.

That's really not that impressive. It has a jet engine, so basically those runs were a fighter plane minus the wings that can't take off. Big deal.
You can't exactly go get groceries in a jet powered car. Not to mention the run in the car would have cost $10 in fuel; the jet would cost $10k in fuel costs alone. It's a gimmick. A plane with the wings taken off.

I thought cars like Koenigsegg One and Aventador had a short front impact zones... That thing.. like 12"...
-
Looks like a mix between Batman and Hollywood prop... like they don't know how over over-the-top they need to be to be way over over the top - terrible.
I would prefer one of the 80ies models.

The design possibly previews the replacement for the Aventador. This will probably still have a V12, but will have a hybrid system.

Going down a dusty back road in Hazzard County, the General Lee, Confederette flag and all, would crush all these fancy-ass rigs.
Be ordering drinks from Daisy at The Boar's Nest while the hotshot drivers are receiving trumped-up charges from Roscoe P. Coltrane.
Nothing beats the General.
