Can you even drive something with 755 hp around on a public street without spinning out of control?

Would have been smarter to make a retro Stingray-styled Vette(like Dodge did with the Challenger) and then make up a name for a new mid-engined model that was ugly and nobody wanted.

My Honda Civic has 260,000 miles on it. Often went over 8k without oil changes too.

I test drove a vette on the 5 in California, almost s##t on myself when a rig went by.  Profile is too low.  It feels like everyone is going to drive over the top of you.  :-X

Mine 1997 Civic had 250,000 miles on it before I smashed it.  Lasted me 10 years with very little maintenance.  Great car.

New/fast cars are nice, but I would never buy one.  The depreciation and insurance are just too high.

im ok with this one, from 1958. it gets you to and back from the gym, enough space for a gymbag and proteinshakes and you can feel the wind in your hair, if you still got any.

I've seen people who have imported the Honda S660. It's a Kei car from Japan, and has 3 cylinder engine that makes about 65 hp. They are small and tiny. And every car looks like they would smash it.

The older I get the most important thing in a car for me is reliability. I want a car that works. Some people waste a lot of money for that renting a new car every three years with a lease.  Do that for ten years and the money really adds up.  Someone bought up a Honda Civic.  Change the oil with synthetic and a Civic will run with zero problems for 200K plus miles. Had a friend with a BMW and he was going broke keeping the thing running.  Every repair was over $1000.

Next from reliability is comfort. How fast can you drive on the highway?  Most cars can do 100mph.  When was the last time you drove 100 MPH for over a mile?  I use to drive everyday over 100 mph but that was for work.  The thrill is gone and the fear is in now.  Give me a premium sound system. A nice smooth ride hugging the highway and premium seats so I can go on a long trip.  Yes, I'm old.

Damnit,, I'm freaking disappointed....where is the Wow factor here?......corvette fans should feel robbed.....it's an Upgraded Z06 with a few modifications here and there.....yes, it's a LT5 engine and GM says it's the most carbon fiber car they've ever made and it should be the best corvette yet.....I'll buy the Callaway as an alternative then, I'm sure they can both compete

it's not easy to just come out with a mid engine vette......too much time for research and development, but I'm sure somewhere down the road, this project will become a reality.....

The Corvette should be an American sports car like the Viper. The Viper made no excuses and nailed it.

Now, that being said...the only people that I've seen in a Vette that is less than 10 years old are 55+ dickheads.

I wonder what the lap time is compared to the Porsche gt2rs, will be interesting

Viper ACR, ZR1, Shelby gt500 are some insane cars for the money

GM should have made the Corvette a brand like Ferrari, way back in the C5 days. That way, there could have been a four tier model line up---Stingray, Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1. Each one for a different segment. The Stingray could be an affordable mid or front engined car to go after the Boxster/Cayman. The Grand Sport---the 911. The Z06, the GT3 RS and mid engine Ferraris. And the ZR1 could be the mid engined one that went after the super/hyper cars.

Also, this would have been a good means to get more cash and to expand the Corvette brand beyond the Baby Boomer Generation.

Wouldn't be a very good business model to follow in the Viper's footsteps.  The Viper has its own appeal, but they can't sell them.

ZR1 is a great last blast with seventh gen chassis.  The wing is a bit much.

This car competes with machines twice its cost and has easy cost of ownership relatively speaking.

Would like to see it in stormtrooper white/black.

Yeah, there's just something about the purity of design of that car. I see one pop up now and again local for 25-30k. They always have 5-10k miles on them.

Different animal but I'd take the V8 GT40 they made 10-12 years back over a newer Vette as well. That's about as modern a design as I can deal with.

EDIT: well shit damn a 2005 GT goes for 300k. Had no idea, haha. I remember when the local dealers were selling them 150% of sticker new.

C'mon dude.....GM did their best....this Vette will be a Hit, though it's not a Unique Vette, but they can at least compete with the Big Dogs
