Really want to leave the city for acres and trees and not having everyone know what I'm up to every time I go outside. The inner city life of breweries, beautiful liberal milfs, etc is only appealing for so long.Anyone else have luck convincing their loved ones who love convience of hip city living, for woods and space? I'm having a hard time making my case effectively. I usually come off looking very selfish

Parents have ten acres I wish I had that kind of space. I live in a townhouse they are crammed together. Neighbors all hate me because of my custom exaughst lol.
My dad has a giant garden fruit trees he can shoot guns whatever he wants.

Move from city to country in 7th grade. Family owned a ranch there. I didn’t live on said ranch, lived about 10 away in a town. Don’t like hunting, so only went to ranch when I wanted to shoot off some rounds. Small towns suck, most of the people suck. I moved out as soon as I could. Give me city life any day of the week. But I couldn’t do New York City. I need to be able to drive.

Never lived in a city but made the move from suburbs to Mayberry about 3 years ago. Just bought a house with possibly the best view in town which I'm renovating. Bit less than 6 acres.
I still can still drive to the city in an hour 15. Seems like the best of all worlds to me. If you're trying to move her to the middle of nowhere it'd be a hard sell. Maybe you can find something close enough to civilization for her but rural enough for you to own an earthmover and guns.
If she still won't compromise then consider divorcing her. You complain about her a lot here, and what we see is probably just the tip of an iceberg.

Last year, left mega size Sydney 4 a surfing outpost in tropical Queensland & life is just fantastic.
Tons of Euro backpacking ladies 8) just dream well & your dream become reality ;)
So far no regrets.

I plan to in the future. Luckily where I live the "country" can be only 45 min from the city.
You probably don't want to hear this but it is very upsetting that your wife doesn't seem to care about your feelings. Glad I don't have any loved ones to convince.

Left the middle of Melbourne 9 years ago for a village of 1000 people in the Black Forest in Germany.
The gyms aren't as good here. The beer is better.
Seriously though - I appreciate both but as I'm getting older now I quite enjoy my quieter lifestyle. No traffic problems, beautiful scenery, good organic food I buy straight from the farmer when he's killed something, or get from my neighbour's garden, a bucketload more freetime than I ever had before..
The downsides - well, I live in Germany and these Germans are nothing at all like the relaxed Aussies I left behind. It's very organised and orderly here and not much spontaneity which drives me batshit crazy, life in a small village means lots of gossip and people not minding their business, and uptight germans. But maybe I mentioned them already?

I'd get out while the gettin's good .. and wouldn't give a fuk what my family thought about it. they will thank u later.

I agree about the nosiness but I'm the best looking guy around so it's understandable. Disagree about there being more free time and a quieter lifestyle. I'm pretty busy all the time and the time on the road, although I don't mind the drive in itself, is a loss when there's shit to get done. I've been known to sleep on the building/job site when the commute is more than 2 hours and the schedule is demanding. Fuel cost vs real estate price might be something to consider.
I have a girl (just naturally gorgeous, she's not bad either) but pickings are slimmer in a smaller town. And the exs are still in residence, of course. It is 'quieter' in the sense that it's a cultural and entertainment void, so if you're a going-out guy instead of a homebody you're likely to get bored. Hot young pussy is super rare since any girl in her 20s has already gotten bored and left for greener pastures. Me, I'm happy to work on my house, fuck my girl, and post on getbig.
The ugly side is that 'the country' tends to collect fuck ups who couldn't cut the mustard in civilized society. Here in Aus, anyway. The dropkicks are certainly present as their own little undersociety. Drunks. Druggies. The irretrievably eccentric and the impossibly hopeless. They're not everywhere but they are present. The bar on a Friday can be a harrowing thing.
The biggest and nicest contrast I notice is the friendliness as compared to the city. People say hi on the street and even wave to each other going opposite directions on country roads. People smile at each other. I did some ceiling repairs at the Perth Town Hall (in the city) and was still working as the office workers were leaving their cubes for the day. I couldn't miss the misery. What a bunch of dour kunts. One dude about 60 looked so unhappy I wanted to give him a hug and some free life coaching.
I'd be interested to hear a no bullshit appraisal of why you want to move to the country. In exchange I will tell you anything you want to know about how to build a dry laid fieldstone wall. That's more than fair.

Moved from Greenville to Sylva when I met Vissy. Lot of advantages and disadvantages. Lower taxes, low crime rate.....biggest issue is boredom and having to travel for things you want. The main store in Sylva was Walmart if that tells you something.

Wouldn’t mind a move like this, maybe Big Sky Country.
