It will most likely 'catch on' simply because it's relatively more 'achievable' and a somewhat easier route to obtain am IFBB pro card and draws a good number of contestants and friends, family, and fans who pay big bucks to observe the outcome.

Men's Physique is definitely catching on - second biggest division after bikini. The look is attainable, you still have to work extremely hard to get that physique and abs, and more company (supplements and others) are looking into that division too.
Men's Bodybuilding still has the worldwide audience though, while Men's Physique is more localized, unless you have achieved a big name, or top ten.
