Hey guys...what the?

Okay this is a relationship question. I've been with this guy for two years, and all the sudden he wants to "take a break" so he can focus on his career and other personal issues and so I can do the same. Granted we do need to do this, but what the heck does take a break mean to a man? He says that he sees things working out down the road. He is definately the type of guy who would not have a problem saying hey it's over. However, what do I do? Do I start dating again and go about my life like it's over or what? This seriously sucks, but I love him and want him to do well with his career and everything. Geez, I just don't know how to take a break. Those grey areas always get me. Thanks gentlemen.
