I'm moving to a house soon. I refuse to ask non-family members to help with the move! EVERY time I helped someone move my blood boiled right from the first object lifted!
-
I moved in with my gf a couple of months ago.
It was tiresome as hell, even without moving any heavy furniture at all. It took us like 1 day and a half.
And it's just a block away from my parents' house (I was living there before moving).
-
i think its better to pay for it.
if people help you, you need to return the favor and who the hell wants to help someone to move?
-
Go to your nearest Home Depot, hire 3 Mexican workers for $20 an hour, problem solved.

;) ;) ;) ;)

Having a van for work means I get every fucking bum mate asking to help them move, I’ve moved one mate 3 bastard times,a big reason I live with the inconvenience of a smaller van now is to deter them from asking

Haha one of the best thing the council did was implement the permit scheme for vans at the local tips, I just tell people I’ve already used my maximum allowed amount for the year if they ask

I once hired a guy with a van to get rid of a lot of garden waste.
When he was leaving he said "will you come to the dump with me and say its yours, they will charge me"
I went with him and saved him some cash.

Helping people move is the WORST. I won't ever do it again, especially since no one has ever helped me move (not that I've asked since the first time everyone had plans).
The home depot suggestion isn't a bad idea at all.

I lost count hoe many times I've moved, from parents house ro numerous apartments to a few homes, back to apartments.
Each time I asked friends I paid in either cash or food and booze, a few times both. That's why when I'm asked i usually help ppl move...but no more.
Each time now that i get asked its always "it's easy brah, just a mattress and a few small boxes"...but when I get there it's an all day affair moving the biggest pieces, most i never even noticed in their places, and a full length U-Haul truck. F**k me...no more.
Next time i move shit's staying right where it is...I'll buy all brand new stuff.

my friend was in the was very high up in the Marine corps me and his brothers would always help him and the guys move they get paid for it was basically like free vacations we loved it it would usually take a few days the partying in different cities was pretty much worth it

Haha nowt that fancy mate a Short wheelbase transit, I much prefer a long wheelbase though as I’m lazy and don’t like having to take tools out when collecting materials, I’ve got to literally empty the fucker to pick up plasterboards and am hating it.
Having the low roof also means kneeling to take a piss in a bottle/bucket in the back and it’s fucking awkward

you may as well throw away your "no tools left in this van overnight" sticker now....
-
I thought this was a forum where people liked to lift things

Some of those transits are huge indeed!
In dutchland it is mostly transporter, carrier and mercedes Vito.
Transit are ugly dont you agree?
-

Haha true but still far too lazy to empty it especially after a days work, out big wacker is 165kg and lives in the van it’s a cu nt to lift out with 2 men fresh in the morning never mind after a shift when your ready for a bath and the cooch haha

The mk7 sport transits look nice but the base models especially the larger ones don’t look the best, I wouldn’t want a decent van it would mean having to actually look after it haha transits are cheap workhorses you don’t mind the battering it takes as a builders van

I understand fully. No time to worry about a scratch or dent. The are made to use as a worktool not as a showobject.

What??? :D I've been in situations where I've been stuck in traffic for an hour and have had to use the empty cup from my morning coffee I buy from 7-11 to fill with piss in the front seat and throw it out the window. No fucking way I'm pulling to the side of the road pulling a trailer, I'll be waiting minutes before anybody lets me get back in. Time is money.

Haha good idea with the cup I’ll keep that in mind, i meant during the day while working out of the van not while driving

You guys don't have these on jobs out there?

What if you have to shit?

Normally not in one place long enough to make hiring one worthwhile, if on a big job a month + would maybe consider it, try and avoid needing a shit at work if at all possible but in emergencies a mixing bucket in the back of the van with the bottom lined with a bit sand haha
-
When I move I do it all myself and i hire a guy from the gym and pay him good money to help me for the day.I don’t trust movers with my stuff and I would never ask a friend as they basically have to say yes and it’s just uncomfortable.

Lol! Shitting in the back of the van! You work solo or in duo's? Seeing each otherbtaking a dump in a bucket lol. Midevil times :o
-
Moving sucks. And most certainly helping others move sucks. When we move, everything furniture related will be sold or donated beforehand and brand new furniture/furnishings will be delivered and or installed.

Haha we never see each other as go into the back turn the light on and shut the door, normally work in a duo with 3 of us the odd day, one day a paki we were putting in a driveway for brought us a sandwich without asking and to be polite we ate it, it was fucking disgusting and we spent the next day playing musical fucking buckets literally most of the day one of us would be on the bucket while the other was pacing outside the van waiting his turn, think the paki fucking poisoned us on purpose
