Title: Compression wear
Post by: Tapeworm on January 31, 2018, 05:28:51 PM
From the underarmour website:

"It‘s the original strategic compression suit built to help athletes recover after a workout or game. It‘s proven to deliver 50% less muscle soreness and fatigue and 50% faster muscle repair."

Quite a claim.  That'd be better than a gram a week, no?

Seriously,if you don’t like muscle soreness you should quit lifting.Whenever a friend of mine would say they wanted to start lifting then they get really sore and say they hate it I would know this is not for them.

It's the faster recovery claim I have a hard time with.  But if it's true I've been missing out on the single greatest training aid ever invented.

I believe those claims, the chicks at my gym wear them, they are some how able to train legs/glutes everyday, I wear hanes sweatpants and when I train legs I cant walk correctly for 2-3 days. How are these girls recovering so rapidly?

I'm guessing they have less estrogen than you do.

I agree with everything you said except the compression pants.I wear them when I do legs and when I run or do fast paced cardio at the gym.
I do believe they help prevent soreness.

Compression absolutely helps with soreness.

If you carry 100lbs 10 miles one day and know your legs are going to be taxed the next day via something else, there's nothing wrong with wearing compression to try to recover quicker.

Obviously, it's not as manly as "taking the pain" from the excruciating battle of lactic acid build up from lying hamstring curls.....

Rear delt isolation, leg extensions, side laterals and tricep kickbacks are not a joke, man.  Try to be serious for once.

This is the same type of stuff you get from the supplement industry.  Stupid claims for stupid consumers.

Well, Playing devil's advocate, you think you could apply the same Theory does taking ice baths post training. Ice baths cause everything took entrapped and in theory squeezing out lactic acid and toxins and all that shit and whatever else.

I dunno... from a performance standpoint I can see them helping the same way wearing a bench-shirt (or even just a tight tee-shirt), even if it's just psychological.

Personally I can't stand the shirts, as I feel like I'm being choked wearing one. I do wear compression socks occasionally, especially at night.also Gotta few pair of red over-the-knee soccer socks (made by UA, just so happens), that aren't meant to be compression socks but they sure do feel like them. They're XL mens, but I have no clue how anybody would manage you get these stretched over top soccer shin guards no matter how much fucking baby powder you used.

Good for long flights!

Yes I adviced my friend travelling to shows to use them on the flights to and from. Post-show ankle edema can be brutal especially with a flight. I got them mostly to prevent shin scraping on deadlifts  :D

Did you know that Spanx (the compression undergarments for women) has a men's line?

"See an improvement in your physique without even hitting the gym with SPANX men’s shapewear.  We use compression technology to help you look sharper, stand taller, and feel stronger in your clothes… without making you feel constrained. Our men’s girdles fit just like your favorite pair of cotton underwear. But unlike your lucky undies, they take inches off your gut. Or, try one of our game-changing men’s slimming undershirts and see an instant transformation in your torso and chest. Discover men’s body shapers from SPANX."

Who knew that happiness could be found in a girdle?

The woman who created Spanx is a billionaire.  She has made her fortune preying on the vanity and insecurity of millions of women... only to discover that men are just as vain and insecure!  The cost of this compression undergarment is $78.  :o  You can't make this stuff up.

True, never experienced this until I started flying back and forth to Hawaii,  calves swollen, I thought I was sick. Never knew flights can have that effect.

It's hard to even find baggy sweat pants now. :-\

People in general are bigger and fatter yet cloths are tighter and often "slim fit". ::)

Strydoms Crazee Wear still has old school baggies but they don't deliver them to my location.

Thanks, RATHER, but I assume that they are worn by many others within the sporting world as well as elsewhere.

I just orderrd a pair from Amazon and plan to give them a try on the slopes of Mt. Charleston.

But I don't think that they will be any warmer than the old silk long-johns that have provided comfort since the winter of 2011.
