In all seriousness, he did. Also, Palumbo claims to be 5'9.5" (just made that statement during his Big Lenny interview). What does that make Gutler? ;)

He had some of the worst arms on any professional bodybuilder, let alone Mr. Olympia winner. Oh and Ronnie destroyed Dorian.

I kind of dipped out of watching Pro bodybuilding just as Jay was coming along, so I haven't got my 10,000 hours in of staring at his competition pics like I have the '80s and '90s guys, but I have got an angle on JC....
Not to get all weird and Victorian about physiognomy, but I've often pondered if there might be some form of even subconscious awareness on the behalf of the viewer that adds towards the illusion of shoulder width, etc. I'm talking about things like cranial circumference, width, width between eyes, etc. The simple things like clavicle length are right in your face but how do the more subtle signals play upon the overall impression given off by that individual?
Yeah Haney had the wide-set features, but Dorian's features were more pinched. Dillet's head seemed pretty small in some shots, but was that because he was massive, or did his small head increase the illusion of size?
-
^^ Sorry, realise that point veered away from the question somewhat... ;D
Therefore I wonder if you were to compare JC and Dave's pictures sans face whether that would make it easier to call it.....

At no time was Gutler more impressive than Jumbo during the latter’s peak. In street clothes, etc. On stage it was a different story, of course.
Dave was simply unreal. Conditioned out the wazoo at over 300 pounds (fact). Veins and striations galore.
Palumbo just didn’t have a good structure or pleasing aesthetics.
-
And yet, Jay is walking around mostly injury free, looks healthy, has most - if not all - of his natural hair, commands respect in the industry, and without a trail of scams and failed business ideas behind him.

Yes.

Palumbo was a fucking monster back in the day.shredded, huge and vascular as hell.
-
Palumbo always posed his arm from the side not from the front...just like Rich Piano did.

Freaky but he really wasn't a "big" guy framewise. Looks great in some old shots though.

Well, in his defence, that was during the period when Palumbo used Kevin Levrones Signature Series and Jay was on a break.

2001 and 2009 jay was unreal
Never cared for his physique but those two years/shows he was on
-
Inside arm ripped and detailed. Outside arm smooth and no detail.

Like I said, worst arms on a pro ever. He needed oil to give the illusion like he had actual biceps and forearms.
