Greetings all, how's things?
Are there many interesting discussions amongst the many sages and philosophers on here lately?
I still lift once or twice a week and sit in lean condition at around 15 stone (210lbs)...plenty of hiking, biking, yoga and meditation also. It is liberating not being involved in one of the most self-conscious, ego constricting sports on earth!
I hope you are all saying prayers for world peace!
love,
BigRo

Still on Joon’s Payroll?

no, is he about these days?
we are all on Providences pay roll, we are all beggers, our self sufficiency is but pride in the eyes of the Lord when we do not realize that.

is that the wall of your living room? ;D
-
Hi Ro and regards, may I ask what led to your current state of mind? Did you indulge in Mushrooms around the camp fire and have any awakening of consciousness?
-
"is that the wall of your living room?"
There are some old buildings that were constructed for ordinance survey crew on my local mountain back in the early 20th century, I spend time up there now and then in deep meditation.
"Hi Ro and regards, may I ask what led to your current state of mind? Did you indulge in Mushrooms around the camp fire and have any awakening of consciousness?"
I have had many awakenings of consciousness throughout my life, there is not one single pivotal moment. Meditation has played the biggest role, however there have been breakthrough moments, moments of profound surrender with the aid of the sacred mushroom. That does not mean that life becomes easier. In a way it is the opposite but with the inner peace to handle it.
-
I hope you find the strength to get out of your current slump.....
Normality is just around the corner...
-
if by normal you mean the chronically dis-eased, dissatisfied state of most men today then I will pass thanks.

Fallen out of love with bodybuilding part of your awakening? Do you no longer consider it a noble pursuit?
-
"Fallen out of love with bodybuilding part of your awakening? Do you no longer consider it a noble pursuit?"
I was quite awake prior to re-entry in to bodybuilding. There are aspects to bodybuilding which I do consider noble. I would say it peaked though back in the golden era.
To be above praise and blame, winning and losing, is a much more victorious achievement spiritually speaking than getting lost in all that, as most athletes are. Its part of the game. However there is a difference in the strength of character of one who has been through all that and one who has sat on the couch and merely thinks he is.
-
You're a good man, Ro. Welcome back, and I hope you're doing well.

none of us matter mate, we are atoms on a spec of dust suspended on a sunbeam.
-
Serious q ro, whats your thoughts on gayvid dycke and his lizardmen theroy
-
What the fuck happened to you ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

none of us matter mate, we are atoms on a spec of dust suspended on a sunbeam.
I have been able to 'make' myself oblivious to this world and even to my own regard and am supremely contented in that state of being. So in that sense I agree, but then will we say the soil does not matter, the sky, the wind the flame and star? Everything has its place at the atomic level and then at the deepest level also we are that sunbeam that illumines all of this. We are that supreme ground of all being.
-

Perhaps I stopped giving a feck about people like you? ;)

He is right about some things. I cannot agree with his lizardmen theory however there are certainly influences that press upon earth and the course of things from subtle, more alien realms, some benevolent, others hostile. David could calm down a bit and spend more time doing inner work rather than getting overly paranoid about evil.

Rich men rule the world always have always will
But they are not lizardmen, just evil assholes

To be fair, there are MANY things that cannot survive a mushroom trip. The moment you step on that ride and it starts moving, it becomes extremely clear that many of the things you do as a human are rather pissant, to say the least.
It used to frighten me to see that veil pulled pack.
I can't get le youtube working but this is a pretty good depiction of the descent.

It is always a challenging experience and deep surrender is not always possible for the duration. One always learns something though.

I thought you had shed your ego?
Only ego makes us believe we are of any significance at all.
also if you have made yourself oblivious to this world why are you here trying to justify what you are doing, again, its ego..

Ego is an interesting word. We all need a certain degree of ego to function in this world. The main thing is for it to be transparent to the soul, the spirit, the ground of being.
That ground of being is common to all life and is not something my surface self/ego can claim to be specially in touch with as opposed to others who are not as special. Such an attitude would creates clouds which would obscure the connection between the surface and the depths. God lives in all men, but all men do not live in God, therein lays the problem of humanity.
It is not a matter of needing your justification for my way of life, rather, in the spirit of good will and fellow feeling I like to feel a sense of connection with the human life around me even if it means confronting ignorance. That too is part of the play and is a test for me to see how equanimous I can be, so thanks:)

don't worry mate, most hippies who drop out finally snap out of it and get back to reality.
Its happening a bit late in your life to be fair but enjoy blissful ignorance while it lasts.

I heard about Levrone making a comeback. Not the wisest choice really, he should be taking example from his fellow brother Dorian in that respect. Plenty of yoga and weed on the beach is a whole lot healthier!

No hate on yoga, plenty of hot women in those classes, I dated a yoga instructor she was a fun girl, and I agree, Dorian seems to be a lot happier then Levrone, Wheeler, and the rest of the IFBB for that matter.

No bitterness or sour grapes please, the sport of bodybuilding is one of the best things, there is nothing better than being a big muscle beast walking around town with people staring at you, if you cant handle the lifestyle then that is on you but dont throw no haterade on bodybuilding.

Welcome back, Big Ro!
Living in stillness is liberating, for sure, but there is always a price to pay.
As you know, time is destruction (see, e.g., Krishna to Arjuna in Ch. 11 of the Bhagavad-Gita).
The past is nothing other than the obliterated present, which, being but a fleeting appearance, lacks real worth.
On its own, man's existence is vacuous, which is why boredom ensues to demand the vain attempt to fill its emptiness.
The Dharma, as you also know, requires teaching and obedience. It is corrective. Understanding requires clarity.
So, I believe you meant to write that your favorite way to pass time is to sit, doing nothing;
perhaps this is why too much gardening in the vineyard of "Om" led you to misspell 'pastime.'
Namaste,
Kahn

Im eating up to a jar of all natural almond butter a day and still losing weight. Im drinking shakes in the night and still losing weight, can't break 195, been flucuating from 195-190, can't break the 200 barrier. I used to think it was a joke when bodybuilders like Dexter would say it's hard to get all this food in, or I struggle to eat all this food, I'm in that situation currently.

Being lean is a blessing and not a curse. Stop being concerned with size and enjoy the leanness so many pursue. Make your body the best 190lbs you can. I weigh 185lbs and I would wish I could get to 170lbs at my 5'8".
-
Still selling nudes of yourself?
??? not that desperate for cash, if it gets to that point, I'll go the Skinamax soft core porn route.

I hear ya, but at 195-190, dieted down I'll land around 170-175 tops, need to be bigger than that dude.

Ro is a good dude, even though he is just a lowly catholic
I am pretty sure most Catholics and Christians in general minus a few here and there would consider me quite heretical to say the least. But the thing is the teachings of Christ have been misunderstood and if he himself were to return today, he would be deemed a heretic too by those who profess faith in him. For example the teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven essentially is pointing within oneself, to a making whole of oneself. It is entering the same state of being as Jesus lived in. This would be nothing short of luciferian blasphemy by many Christians who make a convoluted virtue out of excessive shaming of oneself as a pitiable sinner in the eyes of the most holy and perfect, as if this is what pleases God the most! What about Jesus saying "he who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God"?
-

Namaste,
Kahn
From the epic poem Savitri by Sri Aurobindo;
"But when God's messenger comes to help the world
And lead the soul of earth to higher things,
He too must carry the yoke he came to unloose;
He too must bear the pang that he would heal:
Exempt and unaffiliated by earth;s fate,
How shall he cure the ills he never felt?
He covers the world's agony with his calm;
But though to the outward eye no sign appears
And peace is given to our torn human hearts,
The struggle is there and paid the unseen price"
The highest teaching is silence and the highest form of discipleship is merging in that silence. It is the best corrective.

Ok so your cruising right now big ro, when does your next cycle start and what will you be taking?
Ha, I stopped all that three years ago.
-
I work as a gardener, but yes pretty much, sitting doing nothing is my favourite pass time. The now is always fresh and never gets boring.
I'm a lot like that. I know there are some (many?) who always talk about how they always have go be
doing something. I think some (most) exaggerate just like when they say they don't watch much TV or
get by on 4-5 hours of sleep a night. There seems to be some kind of badge of honor in these things.
Not me. I very comfortable doing nothing and as I get older remaining motionless for extended periods of time seems far more natural to me. I wish I could watch more TV as I think I missed out on a lot of
good programs like Sopranos, Seinfield, CSI but just don't seem to have the time. After I get home from
work I just eat and hit the sack -- reading until I doze off (anywhere from a minute to two hours).
I really wish I could do more nothing. But the obstacle I have to being able to do more nothing is that I need to eat, I need to put a roof over my head, I need to get clothes... none of these that I am able
to do with any great efficiency. I need money to get people to do these things for me and far better than
I can ever do. With money I can find different people with very specific skills to do things that there is
no way I can master all those skills in my life time.
How much do you make gardening? Just a round figure. How much time do you have to spend gardening
to be able to afford you life style? And what is your lifestyle. How do you live? I know this is probably an
uncomfortable subject as spiritual guys tend to pooh-pooh material things. That it's kind of shallow to want to get things -- things to make your life more comfortable and easier and even pleasurable. To even get meaning out of things. I still keep the first car I ever bought brand new. It took me 38 years of life to be able to finally afford a brand spanking new car and it was something I was proud of. I know. It's just a car. Metal, plastic, rubber... and it has no feelings and is oblivious to the devotion I have for it. But we are not just spiritual beings -- we are also physical beings, flesh and blood.
All those wise, holy, above it all men who can hold their breath for 10 minutes, make their heart stop,
can sit in a freezer over night and heal others with just a wave of the hand still have to take a piss and fart throughout the day not to mention take a dump and hope they have some toilet paper handy.
-

I used to think it was a joke when bodybuilders like Dexter would say it's hard to get all this food in, or I struggle to eat all this food, I'm in that situation currently.
I can't remember who said it but it was mentioned that one of the things that is often neglected or ignored when assessing one's potential to be a top pro bodybuilder is the ability to eat. I know most people would find this odd as most people are fat. But there's a difference to being a 300lb blob and 300 pounds at under 10%. There's a metabolic cost just to having muscle even when it's idle. That requires calories. Remember Jay said how he was just sick of eating. How he had to get up in the middle of the night just to eat. For a top bodybuilder eating become work. I know for myself that I found it far more
difficult to eat when I'm not hungry than to not eat when I'm hungry. Force feeding myself made me in a constant state of nausea. You walk around like a slug and feel shitty. The worse is when you throw up in your mouth while you're sleeping.
Trying to keep a normal job while trying to be a pro bodybuilder is almost impossible when you have to be eating every 3 hours.
-
Haha, dude I'm an ectomorph, I started bodybuilding at like 125-130, making to this weight to me is astonishing, if I stop training I'm very lean skinny guy.
I think one of the obstacles you face is that you insist on eating "clean". A concept I'm not really clear about.
For example, a Big Mac is not considered clean eating. In fact, a friend of mine remarked the other day that he was going to MCD for a "cheat" meal. I'm not sure what part of the Big Mac is dirty but I'm sure there
are some here that can lecture me for hours.
Anyway, the one thing that has always helped me gain weight was ice cream. Goes down easy and, well, who doesn't love ice cream? But for someone like you that hasn't eaten a potato chip since grade school this might be too taboo for you.
-

to be able to afford you life style?
I hear you, it is not easy to find balance between the spiritual and practical. We have to keep our heads soaring high while keeping our feet sanely planted on mother earth. Even Jesus had to do the do do, perhaps he even had a morning wood now and then after too much wine. God forbid!

What is it about you or your beliefs that you think Catholics would find heretical?
Oh where to begin!
-
??? not that desperate for cash, if it gets to that point, I'll go the Skinamax soft core porn route.
I hear ya, but at 195-190, dieted down I'll land around 170-175 tops, need to be bigger than that dude.
As Blakely says.... Carry candy barw on you at all times and add mayo and oil to everythung you eat
-
I think one of the obstacles you face is that you insist on eating "clean".
But for someone like you that hasn't eaten a potato chip since grade school this might be too taboo for you.
this, virtually impossible trying to gain weight while eating what's described as clean food, you simply cant get enough cals because of the volume to calorie ratio.
-
From the epic poem Savitri by Sri Aurobindo;
"But when God's messenger comes to help the world
And lead the soul of earth to higher things,
He too must carry the yoke he came to unloose;
He too must bear the pang that he would heal:
Exempt and unaffiliated by earth;s fate,
How shall he cure the ills he never felt?
He covers the world's agony with his calm;
But though to the outward eye no sign appears
And peace is given to our torn human hearts,
The struggle is there and paid the unseen price"
The highest teaching is silence and the highest form of discipleship is merging in that silence. It is the best corrective.
Namaste
I know this is an example of my shallowness but phrases like this, though sounding profound, make absolutely no sense to me. Knowledge is past on through communication. Unless you are talking hand signals or writing notes back and forth to each other. Of course one could say that reading books is the highest form of teaching and it is relatively noiseless but even Plato's Republic would not have come about without a lot of yakking back and forth with Socrates who was all about the "dialogue".
I'm tempted to quote something from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam but don't want to sound too pretentiously pedantic. But in keeping with the spirit I'll offer something more my speed.
"I see nobody down the road," said Alice.
"I only wish I had such eyes!" the kind remarked in a fretful tone.
"To be able to see Nobody. And at that distance, too! Why its as much as
I can do to see real people by this light."
--Lewis Carrol, Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There

Oh where to begin!
Hmm, from the beginning?
-
this, virtually impossible trying to gain weight while eating what's described as clean food, you simply cant get enough cals because of the volume to calorie ratio.
I wouldn't say impossible. One never knows the limits of rice cakes and broccoli florets a man can consume. Still, I don't doubt it would be needlessly unnecessary. But I was never quite sure what
was "dirty" in a nice, creamy tub of ice cream. And I would take ice cream over broccoli every damn time.

In deep sleep we are in silence albeit unconsciously. We love it, and need it to feel refreshed. In the same way but even more rejuvenating is the silence of super conscious meditation. In that state there is no teacher and no taught but there a most profound reformation of the character taking place naturally, without force, spontaneously.

Don't think it gets more ecto than this
what kind of music do you listen to while training brosef?

Welcome back.
-
I'm a lot like that.
I know this is probably an

so apparantely meditating and doing nothing is the way to live
you would like it just fine in a supermax prison.

I never advocated doing nothing, only to balance being and doing.
Society as we know it today is one big supermax prison filled with frustrated inmates.

Small and useless now.
This frame is plenty strong and big enough. Why carry around all that muscle when no longer competing and no longer interested in pursuing muscular development and physical strength to the diminishment of overall well being and the evolution of subtler yet no less meaningful faculties like heart, mind and spirit.
Father from being useless I am actually much more useful not being preoccupied with eating, sleeping and training I can really reach out and be connected.
-
No bitterness or sour grapes please, the sport of bodybuilding is one of the best things, there is nothing better than being a big muscle beast walking around town with people staring at you, if you cant handle the lifestyle then that is on you but dont throw no haterade on bodybuilding.
I am not bitter about bodybuilding. Ideally looking back it would have played a less significant part of my life but fate had it otherwise. Weight-training has always been a part of my life and probably always will be. But when one aspires to be liberated spiritually and feel ones sense of self united with the universe being obsessed with appearance is a big limitation. That is not the fault of bodybuilding in itself its what people bring to it.
It is in my experience more conducive to happiness not to be known as such and such but to be forgotten about and then to forget about ones self also, so as to awaken to the truth, that there is no me in here and no you out there, that in reality I was never born and shall never die, being of the nature of immortal spirit not corporeal flesh. How can one live truly fearlessly when they are identified strongly with that which thieves can break in and steal. Store rather treasure in heaven through realizing the kingdom of god within you. Then you shall be a true warrior amongst men and be of the nature of a steel that shall never corrupt.

Precisely, I am not interested in pandering to female expectations of what is aesthetic nor am I searching to be handled in anyway. Its quite liberating.

The same hand that wipes it now will wipe it then, instead of worrying about such earth changing concerns why not ponder on whose ass it is that is being wiped.
