Because the surgery was on his spine, up near his neck.
The nerves located near his shoulders and arms probably were not firing on all cylinders.

Damn. Looked way better than I expected after dealing with such an injury. Looks like he can keep growing and find a way to grow the mid back. He’s always had high last though.

Not small, lacks density- just needs more time.. probably not going to be what he was in 2007, but can and probably will improve on this showing. Looks tired and nervous too.

Wolf is done for good. Half of his body looks atrophied - calves, triceps, forearms, lats. At this point in life he no longer needs to diet to single digits and lift heavy weights.
If he wants to be remembered in all his glory and not end up crippled like Coleman, he better quit competing and do something else.

There was a video on YouTube discussing Wolf's comeback featuring Markus Ruhl speaking in German. Ruhl said something to the effect of there being no one who doubted Wolf's potential.
That may be true, but what does he have to prove? And it's not like professional bodybuilding is something smart to pursue once you turn 40 - as Wolf himself is turning later this year.
To be completely honest with you, I fear for Dennis Wolf's health. :-\

I don't know if he is definitely done - he did start fairly late to actually get back for this comp.

Even before look at his last competitions and his arnold wins in the past, his body has been regressing for quite sometime, he had that tired , deteriorating look way before this accident he had

Ive had similar surgeries, disc replacement at three levels in my neck, muscle atrophy is a killer whilst there will be improvement over time, unless he's doing stem cells or some other miracle stuff, the muscles will never return to preinjury condition, Im 10 years post op next month and my right side is still down on the left. You can get by anywhere in life and most wouldn't know, but standing there in your thong dieted down and dehydrated, good luck.

Noticed that too...wonder if his neck injury somehow affected the nerve supply further down in his back? His lower lats just look "melted".
Maybe some kind of deep tissue massage could help? Anyone knowledgeable on the topic?

Must be related to his surgery, I think your theory about nerve supply damage is right but certainly no expert. Walter White? He will know what's happened.....
