nothingness looking to cash in on the 14teen to 20 year old geeks
-
Really getting sick of this whole "retro gaming" trend they are trying to shove down our throats.

Haterz.
Read the book years ago.
It's a great story.

Really? I haven't read the book, but it looks more like 80s nostalgia stuff for adults in their 30s, 40s and 50s.

its based off a book written by a 40 year old about shit he liked growing up

That's exactly what the book did.
It's about post apocolypitc world where a majority of things are done in VR (school classes, etc). VR currencies, real estate, etc all exist.
A billionaire leaves clues to a fortune where the quests involve all stuff from that time period - D&D, video games, etc.
It was a fun read, especially if the stuff he liked was the same stuff you liked.

The movie never meets expectations of the book they always seem to miss the mark. ernest cline wrote another book ARMADA that could be a good movie.

Yes, I see that now. I no longer despise this.
-
bottom line is that it looks like crap from the trailer
so the book is irrelevant along with any comments about the book
-
Saw the trailer and was sick of the cgi in those 2 mins, so tired of the cartoon looking films these days.

I just finished reading the book and enjoyed it.
If you like or may be interested in Virtulal or Augmented Reality and where it may be heading or have played those old computer games such as Donkey Kong, Mario Brothers, etc. .... I think you'll be enjoying this movie.
I don't like computer games in the least, but I do enjoy seeing how a book converts to a motion picture ...... and how that motion picture is filmed ... and in this case it does appear that the movie will be superior by far.
You may enjoy watching the READY PLAYER ONE prevues on YouTube ..... but it does appear that all the best and major scenes are "disclosed' there.
I'll probably see the IMAX version this time out. Last IMAX ticket was for AVATAR and it made a hell of a difference oner the normal version.
You GETBIGGERs just might enjoy ..PLAYER ONE .. and become a kid again!

The fact that you call them "computer games" kind of tipped us off.

You're a talented guy, but it's clear you shy away from challenges that call your talent into question. Instead you pick petty fights with idiots all day. If you continue like this, you're only going to resent everything more and more. To prevent yourself from recognizing that what little worth you have is wasting away due to your own cowardice, you slander everyone else. By continually being unfair to everyone (and everything) else, you try to maintain the feeling that you are above them. At the same time, you recognize your own unfairness. In the end, you only degrade yourself.

is that a quote from a book, a film based on a book or a computer game
-
GRAPE, You might dislike it even more when I tell ya that the PLAYERS become the major participants within what we presently call a "Computer game".
I think we will be seeing a lot more of this PLAYER participation in the not too distant future now that Virtual Reality and Augmened Reality are of great interest andare being perfected by the major PLAYERS within the computer and computer game industry.
But it might take another 5 to 10 years to be great enough to get GetBiggers into the game.

Not true. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a great book and move.
