Grammy nominated Swedish DJ Avicii died Friday, his publicist confirmed to CNN.
He was 28.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," a statement to CNN read. "He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
Avicii was one of the most successful touring DJs in the industry, working with artists including Madonna. He had a crossover pop hit in 2013 with "Wake Me Up."

-
Who?
A 'DJ', so basically a fagg
-
He choked to death sword swallowing an original heeb's radiator hose.
DJ's around the world will be making a tribute to him of more garbage electronic music
-
Where you is Chadwick? I need to know if he was.
-
Maybe Big Lenny can take over the drug parties
-
Really saddened to hear the news.
-
I'll probably live to over 100. My body likes me to suffer from pain :D
-
Oh, okay.
-
I really don't dig this type of music but he was damn good. Probably the best out there. 28 is way too young to die. Especially due to alcohol related illnesses.
-
"Why am I afraid to die?"; what exactly is it about non-existence that scares me so much? After all no matter how much I try to tell myself otherwise Im gonna find out when I do die either way"
- Avicii
the poor bastard found out
-
Had millions of dollars. Contracted pancreatitis at 21 because of too much alcohol. Had his appendix and gallbladder removed & had to retire from touring in 2016. And still, he couldn't stop drinking
Addiction sucks
-
Everybody acting like there were no drugs involved.

My father has been drinking heavily for the past 48 years with tiny breaks. Also smoking 2 packs a day. Never had a problem. It really comes down to luck and genetics.
-
Wasn't he a legit 705 raw bench presser? Oh wait... that's Ted Arcidi. Never mind.

Dude must have been drinking a shit ton of booze or just bad genetics. Being a bartender I remember a regular at a bar I was working at, his name was Mike everyone called him "New York Mike" (he was originally from NY) anyway, my first night working there, this guy is at my bar top and he orders a double GreyGoose Orange, I make it...10 minutes later he asks for another double GreyGoose Orange and I make it, 10 minutes later he asks for another one....now I'm worrying about this guy, so I grab my manager and tell him the situation, he explains to me that this is normal for NY Mike and not to worry. Anyway, I get to know this guy while I worked there, he was literally the movie Leaving Las Vegas Nick Cage character in real life. Guy lost his job, late 40's no wife or kids, and decided to say fuck it and drink himself to a slow death, not sure if he is still alive I worked at that bar about 4 years, he was there everyday, drank a minimum of 10 drinks a day, most days more. Seemed to be alright, looked ok, I mean looked healthier than a lot of these bodybuilders in there 20's and 30's posted here. The dude would be outside the bar waiting for the owner to show up and open the doors, and an employee would have to drive him home everynight (this was before Uber) I drove him home many times, at that time I had a Mustang convertible and for laughs I would put the top down and blast the Rocky soundtrack (he used to bust my balls for working out all the time) while I drove him to his house. So this Avicci guy must have been doing some hardcore drinking, probably had one hell of a time before he got sick. Rip he had some good music.

good bro story
bartender = part time psychologist too.
i assume bad genetics. so many high school kids drink from 16-23 like non stop. i mean non stop (I lived both sides of the coin near midwest hillbillies and went to ASU (huge party school back in the day) and never knew anyone got kidney or liver issues. and i ran with the shity kids for the most part too.
had to be bad genetics but stress, other drugs, no norm, the loud music, the drama, jetleg did him in
the lifestyle as a whole - like when dudes with HIV go AIDS real quick. i used to hear the super hard/fast lifestyle would speed up the process.. all the freakin stress

I knew a kid from my area he was a few years older than me at the time. He died in his early 20's from liver failure from drinking. Dr told him to quit but he never did till it was way too late.

ASU must have been an amazing time! I also drank everyday while in college, but it wasn't excessive amounts a few beers and a few shots were all I needed to get a good buzz. But another crazy thing about this customer NY Mike, when he would be waiting outside for the bar to open, we would set up the bar, he would come in and his hand would be shaking as I would serve him that first drink, when you get the shakes thats when you know theres a real problem.esfitness approved...

Avicii was super gay!!! Die in peace you asshole!

I really feel sorry for poor Avicii....he had such a hard life!
Imagine the stress of earning 1 million euros after tax per year.
And travelling to such horrific destinations every month!
Surrounding yourself with coke sniffing losers
Maybe this DJ boy should ask people in India who live on the streets about what a tough life is really like....or people in Syria who have survived chemical attacks...

When I was a kid I worked at an awesome pizzeria.
It was a great concept. It had pizza and a video store to go. So you could order pizza, cheesesteaks and the latest movie (even had a blue movie room--and yes, we'd deliver that too).
The owner was a seriously talented musician. Had graduated Curtis and played piano internationally. But he drank himself to death. Very sad.

I'd say heavy drinking, drugs, lousy diet and stress. People associate pancreatitis with alcoholism, but drug abuse and unhealthy diet will ruin your pancreas too. I doubt drinking was his only problem. Filthy rich young guy, working crazy hours, surrounded by people partying on drugs and I'm supposed to believe he was just an alcoholic? ::)
Sure "bad genetics" might have been factor too. Then again, maybe we shouldn't be comparing him to the lucky (few?) who seem to "get away" with it for decades.

Real men wear posing trunks on stage not hide behind audio equipment pffffff

Yes, a great musician gone far too soon.
Musician?? lmfao which musical instruments did he play??? Mac book and a turn table??

What is an "avicii"?
He wanted a MySpace account myspace.com/TimBergling but it was taken. Then he heard a buddhist term from a friend called Avici, but myspace.com/avici was taken too. So, he added an extra letter i and his myspace account would therefore be Avicii. So, intentional misspelling. Obviously he had no clue at that point he'd become super famous overnight.

Think he made over $30m from that one song (wake me up). Had a $24m mansion in LA.

I believe I was 21 as well, maybe 20 first time I got acute pancreatitis. Had it again maybe four or five times since then. Two of the times I didn't even know I had it and was told when I was in the hospital for alcohol withdrawal.
Never understood why wealthy people drank. I never drank because I enjoyed it, I drank to self-medicate and alcohol was always available when other stuff wasn't. If I could've gotten Xanax or klonopin I'd much rather take that. Never abused or had any addiction to benzos,& never developed a tolerance to them, but alcohol my tolerance skyrocketed pretty quick and got to the point where I needed medical detox whenever I started/stopped, even if it was only for a week.

Avicii means Attention Whore in Latin :)
I think DJs are vastly overrated anyway. Lousy static shows, pathetic hand and arm movements to the (drugged) crowd
I have never seen an artist of say Marvin Gaye / Prince / Stevie Wonder / David Bowie caliber emerging from the DJ scene....

All required a producer, which is what djs are these days. Look at American Idol... Worlds full of people who can sing, but if they don't have somebody making the music, tjeyre gonna be nobody's.
And ppl complain ing that djs arnt musicians? So what. They make the music.. they come up with the baselines, hi's low's mids where the vocals come in how the vocals sound, pitch, key, etc etc etc.. It's their ear & their ideas
-
Not my type of music but sad nonetheless.

Not all, Prince never worked with a producer. I’m not sure about the other guys but I know Stevie Wonder produced some of his own work too.

Sounds like anyone/everyone is a DJ these days.
a lot of djs these days prerecord their sets and just go and play them, they just fuck about and pretend to adjust the dials and buttons.
there is a video on youtube of Sasha (big UK dj) playing a set, its a simple base beat with hardly any variation and hes all over the mixing console twisting at pushing buttons, what hes supposed to be doing is beyond me..
-
In between DJ's being off their rocker or jumping around on stage all the time, the only thing they actually do is press play and sometimes crank up the volume. Steve Aoki is a great example of a talentless hack.
-

Ted's a good friend of mine for 20+ years now, attend each others family functions, etc...

This Avicii clown, never heard of him or that shitty type of "music"...

These DJs are throwaway “artists” of Generation Nothingness.
-

Ive had pancreatitus too... But i was never a drinker.
I heard he was into opiates? Damn he must have been a very hardcore drinker if he died at 28! If it was even pancreatit.

Coming from a grown man who admits to jerking off to young girls, funny.

I understand shit like that, beer and a burger, wine with pasta, etc.. I mean drinking to the point of death. Guys like him sent drinking wine all day. They're drinking booze.

Those are artist from 40 years ago........
While I agree (a bit) I have been to Tiesto's Picotto,Sinclar etc at their peak some 15 years ago and while remixes and music in general was Good (if you like electronic music) I couldn't get the euphoria, it was just them djs behind computers and some turntables ...maybe was all programmed pre-recorded while Tiesto was doing NOTHING and laughing at the huge crowd that paid $$$$$$$$$$
WoooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Pet SHop Boys remixes try it while cardio bitches
-
Played and lost...boo hoo.

It is, but producing music really isn’t that hard for highly talented individuals like Prince, Stevie Wonder, Bowie, McCarthy, George Michael etc etc. It’s just a lot of work most brilliant artists would rather outsource. I know Prince used the phrase “real music by real musicians” in concert I think he was being narrow minded. Probably just an ego thing really.
-

ACTUALLY....
avicii = I died ;D ;D
https://mymemory.translated.net/en/Latin/English/avicii
-
would have been coke and everything else as well, would be hard to blow out the liver that young without throwing them in the mix, 10 doubles a day is heavy drinking, but benders kill these guys 48-72 hours of just booze and coke, then valium xanex oxy to help with the drop. talented guy real waste.
-
Djs shouldn't be drinking booze, they should be taking amphetamine and Es

Such as Axl rose producing November Rain on Pro Tools entirely by himself. Piano drums guitars etc.. All on Pro Tools

Wasn’t raw. HTH.
But it was a horribly thin 1st gen bench shirt, he put on himself, and arms hung by his side and not out front.
Still holds records today... (35 years later, not many have 35 year old records).
-
It says in the paper over here he choosed to take his life because he couldnt take it anymore? Havent read the full scope yet on it...
