Her Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk was also a member at one point, and is*trying*to clear her name.

Smallville's Allison Mack Files For Divorce From Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne

Smallville star Allison Mack has filed for divorce from Battlestar Galactica star Nicki Clyne. Mack, who played Chloe Sullivan on the long-running DC series, married Clyne in 2017 and filed for divorce in Orange County, California on Friday, December 11th (via ET). Federal prosecutors had previously alleged in 2018 that Mack and Clyne had married at the behest of NXIVM co-founder Keith Raniere. Both Mack and Clyne were members of the sex cult.

In 2018, Mack was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy in connection to her involvement with NXIVM. It was during Mack's arraignment that federal prosecutors also alleged that the actresses' marriage to Clyne was intended to help Clyne circumvent American immigration laws. Former NXIVM member India Oxenberg made a similar claim in her memoir, Seduced, writing that the pair had forced her to sign a document stating that they were in love and the wedding was real. Oxenberg claimed in her book that the marriage was orchestrated by Raniere.

Mack plead guilty in guilty to charges of racketeering and racketeering conspiracy in April 2019. Mack faces 15 years to life in prison and while sentencing was originally scheduled for September 2019, it has been postponed to allow for presentencing investigation and a new sentencing date has not yet been set. Mack's Smallville co-star Alaina Huffman has since alleged that Mack tried to recruit her into the NXIVUM cult, but that nothing came of it due to schedule conflicts.

"Interestingly, when I look back on it, I had been invited to several meetings, and because I had two little kids at the time, I never really had the time and our schedules never really lined up, so I never ended up attending," Huffman Told Us Weekly earlier this year. "Honestly there was always a little something off about it."

"It was just a feeling, and I was like, 'No, I'm good,' and I stayed away," Huffman further explained. "I don't know if that's because I had my own village, I wasn't very susceptible or vulnerable. I had a great group of friends, at the time I was married, and I had my kids."

Clyne, who played Cally Henderson Tyrol on Battlestar Galactica, was never charged for her involvement with NXIVM and spoke publicly for the first time about the situation in September.

"It's very unfortunate the way that the word NXIVM has been applied and is now synonymous with the term sexual cult, which I don't even know how to define what that is," Clyne told CBS This Morning.

Raniere was convicted on seven charges in 2019 and was sentenced to 120 years in prison in October of this year.

For all you religious people out there, all faiths and denominations....How do you explain why so many people follow so blindly?

Jim Jones, David Koresh, now this idiot.

There are more, including suicide cults, and all that bullshit.

Maybe "God" is an alien. Surely, there is something more than Earth out there. That's what NASA says after all. Yet they can't seem to send astronauts into space without blowing up. Publicly. Maybe they don't tell us shit for a reason. I can't fathom that people supposedly walked on the moon in the 60's, and with all of our tech advaces, we can't even do that now?

It's all bullshit. They can supposedly send remote controlled cars to Mars, take wonderful photos of our galaxies and planets, tell us that space is "infinite", yet are scared to send actual people, beyond the Earth's atmosphere?

Yeah because  you specifically named Jim Jones, with a couple hundred followers, and David Koresh with a few dozen followers, as if they are representatives of organized religions.

Are there more followers of Jones or Koresh today?  Have those NICHE groups developed a separate belief system since the leaders have died?

Shawn Ray is your favorite bodybuilder? A guy who hasn’t competed in 15 years? You know a ton about working out, wow! You sound like a real exercise  enthusiast.

Get your story straight on Jim Jones and Koresh, then come back and talk to me. Jim jones was powerful enough to kill a U.S. politician, and either murder or sucide koolaide many more (including kids).

Oh and what a bout Koresh? He only ran a compound in which he raped children, slept with other followers wives, and it took a month long standoff, the ATF couldn't do it, with finally helicopters and tanks getting the job done. You have no idea what you are talking about. My point was how anyone could be tricked into believing these psycho's bullshit from the beginning.

What about a few thousand years and many wars ago? Is it that far fetched?

Now you’re an expert on cults?

Lol. You’re right Jim Jones and David Koresh were very powerful and influential men who had millions of followers willing to do their bidding and were formidable foes for the military.....

So now you’re saying your point was how are people so delusional to believe the nonsense of cult leaders?

That’s a good question, it’s the same way morbidly obese men think they have a hint of abs and despite never living a lifestyle consistent with a focus on health and fitness they still know a sh!t ton about exercise.  Some women marry convicted serial killers in prison because they know the “real” man that the rest of the world doesn’t know.....

When it comes to religion, yes I am wondering how some people are so influenced. Its happened since the dawn of humanity, with 1,000 different religions and deities, yet certain people, seem to have it all figured out. Hey, if it makes you a better person, I'm all for it. That's what they invented it for after all. Did you give your tithe yet, David? The collection plate is always out.

You asked how so many people follow blindly. You then referred to Jones, Koresh and this new cult. How many followers did these 3 have combined? 400? Is that a lot of people out of 330 million Americans (and the number would actually be higher because these cults ran at different time periods).

Why do you post on abodybuilding websites and not some other boards? What are your other interests? Why?

I understand why you're asking why people get involved with cults,  it should be so obvious  but many would ask what's your interest in bodybuilding, you dont look like you've ever lifted and you've never competed, what's the draw?

People that often end up in cults have been abused in some area of life and the cult seems "normal" to their previous life experiences. It just feels right. The members become manipulated until they lose their independence and the group becomes their identity. It's obviously more in depth but theres a lot of issues at play.

Erm... not sure that reads right now I look at it
The leader was Keith Raniere.  He was a supposed genius  ::)  who started a business seminar group that became a cult.  The hot women in the group created their own sub group called DOS where they had to take nude photos of themselves and later got branded with Raniere's initials near their cootch.

Raniere wasn't even present when this stuff took place but the women at the top of the group blamed him so they could get off the hook.  He got 120 years and the women got much shorter terms (if any).  Now one of the women involved, Sarah Edmondson, a failed actress, is using her experience to get some sort of fame by claiming the victim role.  She got out of any time.

Raniere actually sounds a lot like a Getbigger with his amazing talents and abilities.  He was a huge Hillary Clinton supporter so I don't feel sorrow for him but he shouldn't have gotten that much time while the women just as much or more involved got very little if any time.

On the issues of following blindly, I was talking about current religions, such as Christianity and Islam. Wouldnt the definition of "following blindly" literally mean: never seeing your saviour, or even concrete evidence that they even existed in the first place. Millions of people have died for the cause, though.

Organized religious groups are cults, but without as much sex and mayhem.

It's generally the same thing and revolves around paying money to save yourself.

Many people who get wrapped up in these darker cults have mental issues to begin with or came from abusive backgrounds. Yet others are just easy to manipulate.

You would be surprised how easy it is for an experienced con man to brainwash someone who is susceptible to it.

I don’t have to do anything you  dope. You troll with your “intellectual” thoughts and questions that a 7 year would ask and then act you’re presenting  profound ideas but you can’t even look at your own life experiences as an example.

The Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria have you ever seen these ships? Or Christopher Columbus or George Washington or how about I use someone more recent like Kim Jung Yung? Have you met him?

Lol! What an idiot. I'm glad you chose to use, in your own words, someone more recenct like Kim Jong-Un. There is actual physical, photo, and video evidence that that guy is alive. Just like his father was many years before that.

This is what evidence we have of Jesus.

That's not what I said. I said that Kim Jong Un can be verified through videoes and photographs. Jesus and the Prophet Mohammed have no more physical evidence in existing than Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and The Tooth Fairy.

Sad thing is, parents usually have to tell their kids that Santa, The Easter Bunny, and The Tooth Fairy don't exist? Why is that?

It's the same when I shed a tear that Zeus, and all the Gods on Mt. Olympus weren't real either.

I guess Valhalla can just be thrown out too. Its all too unbelievable after you read the bible and the Koran.

No issues here. Good people are good people. I don't care if they worship Dr. Seuss. I get your sarcasm, asshat, but that's the exact way that these things start.

Just look small scale. Charles Manson. The guy got teenage-hippie burnouts, and drug addicts to kill for him.

But this isn't small scale. This is 2,000 plus years in the making, Knights Templar, Holy Grail, type shit.

Did you know that Friday the 13th, was when the French King arrested all of the Knights he could find in France, and accuse them of heresy, and burned many at the stake?

It's supposed to be true, yet we also have another Friday The 13th....

Manson got married in prison to a woman 20 years younger than him. Why?

That's interesting. That is why I don't pledge allegiance to a political party. I love my country(America) but I refuse to pick a biased side. Allison Mack calls role in NXIVM sex cult case her 'biggest mistake' days before sentencing

Days before Allison Mack is scheduled to be sentenced for her role in the NXIVM sex cult, the former "Smallville" actress issued an apology.

In a letter obtained by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, addressed to "those who have been harmed by my actions," Mack, 38, expressed regret for her actions and reflected on the "opportunity" of her house arrest to "confront the darkest parts of myself and come to terms with the pain my actions have inflicted on so many people I love."

"It is now of paramount importance to me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry," she wrote. "I threw myself into the teachings of Keith Raniere with everything I had. I believed, whole-heartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself. I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and greatest regret of my life."

USA TODAY has reached out to Mack's lawyers for further comment.

NXIVM founder Raniere was sentenced last October to 120 years in prison for his role in leading the criminal enterprise that included a cult-like sorority where women were sexually exploited and branded with his initials. In 2019, Mack signed a plea agreement in Brooklyn federal court, admitting to racketeering crimes in her role as a high-ranking leader in subgroup DOS that could put her behind bars for years.

The former actress is expected in court Wednesday for sentencing. According to THR and Variety, her legal team is asking for no jail time, given Mack has recognized her wrongdoings and publicly denounced Raniere.

In her letter, Mack apologized to those who she brought to NXIVM, claiming she believed she "was helping" them. The former actress also expressed gratitude for being stopped when she was, thanking "the court, my family, my therapist, and a few amazing friends."

She added: "Please know that I am dedicated to spending my life working to mend the hearts I broke and continuing to transform myself into a more loving and compassionate woman. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope it offers at least a little bit of peace and closure as this horrific chapter comes to an end."

Last summer, the HBO docuseries "The Vow" explored how Raniere and co-founder Nancy Salzman manipulated others into joining what they thought was a self-improvement organization. The docuseries also introduced former members whose enthusiasm for NXIVM was replaced with disgust, shame and an unwavering desire to take Raniere down and rescue other members under his spell.

You just answered your own question with one word: BLINDLY!

As far as Christianity goes, people are supposed to study the Bible for themselves and hold leaders accountable, if their actions and teachings don't mesh with Scripture. "From such, turn away" (2 Tim. 3:5).

That's why we have Protestants; that's why we had the Reformation. People discovered that what the Roman Catholic Church was teaching (in Latin vs. the native tongue of certain countries in which a priesthood was located) and what the Bible actually taught were two different, often polar opposite things.

Some of the articles I saw said she was looking at a sentence of up to 40 years.

Allison Mack Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Role in NXIVM ‘Sex Cult’

The 'Smallville' actress was facing up to 17 years in prison for her role as NXIVM leader Keith Raniere's number two in a secretive group that branded and blackmailed women.

BROOKLYN, New York— Allison Mack, once a cheery actress on a popular teen superhero show, was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Wednesday for her role in a racketeering scheme orchestrated by jailed NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere.

Mack, 38, appeared in Brooklyn federal court with her lawyers and read a statement calling her actions “abusive, abhorrent and illegal.”

Government guidelines recommended a sentence between 14 and 17.5 years for conspiring to extort women into submission as “slaves” to Raniere, but prosecutors requested a lower sentence because Mack provided key evidence that led to Raniere’s conviction.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis said Mack was an “essential accomplice” in carrying out Raniere’s DOS-related crimes. “He could not have done that without you,” he said. “You did that together.” He sentenced her to three years in prison, plus a three-year term of supervised release.

Mack was first arrested in April 2018 on sex trafficking and forced labour charges. At the time prosecutors called her Raniere’s “second-in-command” in a secretive women’s empowerment group that blackmailed and branded women. She pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy the following year, admitting to extortion and forced labor.

For more than a decade Mack was a coach and recruiter for NXIVM, a collection of self-help programs that claimed to help free people from limiting beliefs. Expensive entry-level courses built an elaborate mythology around Raniere, who at one time claimed he had an IQ of 240 and went by the title “Vanguard.” Followers like Mack adhered to strict low-calorie diets, sacrificed sleep to take on unpaid work, and recruited new members using multi-level marketing tactics.

Raniere faced trial in 2019 on a slew of charges ranging from sex trafficking and forced labor to wire fraud, identity theft, and sexually exploiting a minor. He was convicted on all counts and sentenced to 120 years in federal prison in October 2020.

Mack served as one of Raniere’s top-line “masters” in DOS, a slavery-themed blackmail scheme that called itself a women’s empowerment group. Women initiated into the group were pitched on a secret mentorship opportunity, then instructed to submit damaging secrets and nudes as proof of their commitment to secrecy. According to court records, as many as 150 women submitted potentially life-ruining “collateral” just to hear details about the secret group.

Once women submitted collateral, DOS members took a vow of lifetime obedience to upper-level recruiters like Mack. As part of her plea Mack admitted she lied about the group’s real leadership and purpose and instilled fear that collateral would be released if women went against orders or spoke out about the group.

Raniere’s role as “grandmaster” commanding over the group was concealed from the vast majority of members. Two women who testified at Raniere’s trial said Mack ordered them to “seduce” Raniere under threat that their collateral would be released.

One woman who was identified in court as Jay testified that Mack framed sexual contact with Raniere as an opportunity to work through her trauma as a victim of childhood sexual abuse.

The woman, who has since publicly identified herself as model and actress Jessica Joan, called Mack a “predator and an evil human being.” She compared Mack to Ghislaine Maxwell, alleged groomer for Jeffrey Epstein, and described Mack’s “sick and sadistic smile” whenever she punished women.

Mack is the third high-ranking member to be sentenced as part of the NXIVM case. Heiress Clare Bronfman pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years and nine months in federal prison for illegally harbouring a migrant and visa fraud last year.

NXIVM cofounder and president Nancy Salzman and her daughter Lauren have also pleaded guilty to racketeering charges and are expected to be sentenced later this year.

Jane Doe who helped take down NXIVM sex cult leader Keith Raniere identifies herself

The woman known only as Jane Doe #2 in the case that brought down the former leader of the sex cult NXIVM, Keith Raniere, has revealed her identity for the first time.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Jessica Joan said how it was like her ‘worst nightmare come to life’ when she realised she had unintentionally joined a cult, and how she began to collect evidence before escaping and speaking to the FBI.

Having joined the group in Los Angeles in 2016 while in her late 20s, Joan said that she was later approached about joining the secret, women-only subsociety of the group known as DOS or The Vow.

Allison Mack and the NXIVM case: Everything to know as 'Smallville' star leaves prison early

Actress released after serving two of three years for her role in masterminding notorious cult-like sex organization.

Allison Mack, the former Smallville star who became a ringleader of the notorious cult-like NXIVM, has been released early from prison. The 40-year-old actress had served two years of her three-year sentence behind bars in Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif. (the same low-security camp where Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman spent time for their roles in the college admissions scandal), and left the facility on Monday, according to inmate records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Now 40, Mack was one of the most prominent figures in the sex-trafficking case that both horrified and captivated the nation years ago.

She pleaded guilty in April 2019 to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy related to her high-level role in Keith Raniere's controversial, cult-like self-help group NXIVM, which claimed to provide inspirational executive coaching. Prosecutors accused her of recruiting sex slaves for Raniere via its subgroup, DOS (Dominus Obsequious Sororium), described as an all-female secret society of “masters” and “slaves” in which women were forced to be sexually subservient to Raniere.

As directed by Raniere, Mack and other high-ranking DOS masters and recruits were made to engage in sex acts with Raniere, be photographed nude, perform labor and follow an extreme diet. They were also branded like cattle with a symbol that they later learned represented Raniere’s initials — an idea Mack came up with.

Mack initially pleaded not guilty but flipped. Prosecutors revealed she “provided substantial assistance to the government” and sought a lighter sentence.

Prosecutors stated that Mack provided details regarding crimes committed by Raniere and other top DOS masters. She also turned over relevant emails, documents and recordings to the government, including one recording that "served as crucial evidence" in Raniere's trial. Raniere is serving life in prison on multiple crimes, including sex trafficking, extortion, sexual content featuring children and forced labor for running the cult.

Before her sentencing in June 2021, Mack's attorneys had requested that she spend no time in prison because she was "on a promising path of rehabilitation." They say in the three years in which she's been under court supervision, she's "turned completely around from depravity and trauma to peace, acceptance and remorse." She reunited with her supportive family, is undergoing therapy and is focused on bettering her education (she earned an associate's degree, with a 4.0 average, and is now working toward a bachelor's at University of California, Berkeley). She also filed for divorce from Battlestar Galactica actress Nicki Clyne, "whom she married at Raniere's request" in another "incompressible lack of judgment."

The defense's sentencing memo notes, "The Allison Mack of today does not recognize the Allison Mack of three years ago."

Mack — best known for her decade-long role as a young Superman’s friend, Chloe Sullivan, on the WB’s Smallville — has a number of letters supporting her request for no jail time — and she wrote her own, addressed "to those who have been harmed by my actions."

In it, she expressed regret for her actions and said being under house arrest gave her the "opportunity" to "confront the darkest parts of myself and come to terms with the pain my actions have inflicted on so many people I love." She said it's "now of paramount importance" to tell her victims that "from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry. I threw myself into the teachings of [Raniere] with everything I had. I believed, whole-heartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself. I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and greatest regret of my life."

She apologized to those she recruited into NXIVM, writing, "I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man." She said at the time she thought she "was helping" women. She thanked "the court, my family, my therapist and a few amazing friends" for helping her come out on the other side.

Mack ended by writing, "Please know that I am dedicated to spending my life working to mend the hearts I broke and continuing to transform myself into a more loving and compassionate woman. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope it offers at least a little bit of peace and closure as this horrific chapter comes to an end."

During her sentencing hearing in 2021, Judge Nicholas Garaufis noted Mack was an "essential accomplice" of Raniere's who "willingly enslaved, destabilized and manipulated other women." However, he found three mitigating factors for a reduced sentence.

"First, your lawyers make a persuasive case that you, like the victims of your conduct, were ensnared in Mr. Raniere's coercive and manipulative web," Garaufis wrote in his sentencing memorandum. "Second, you have expressed remorse and contrition and made significant progress towards rehabilitating yourself. And I see no reason to doubt that your efforts and your progress are sincere."

Finally, the judge noted Mack's assistance in the government's case against Raniere, who was sentenced to life in prison on sex trafficking and other disturbing charges.

Raniere founded NXIVM, which was based in upstate New York, in 1998 — and its expensive self-empowerment courses were a lure to Hollywood actors, socialites and entrepreneurs. Clare Bronfman, an heiress to the Seagram liquor fortune, was a high-ranking associate like Mack and was also indicted on racketeering conspiracy and related crimes. Mack's Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk took a "self-help/personal growth course that helped me handle my previous shyness" but said "the accusations that I was in the 'inner circle' or recruited women as 'sex slaves' are blatantly false."

India Oxenberg, the daughter of Dynasty alum Catherine Oxenberg, was in the cult and claimed Raniere starved her to look like a 12-year-old and “raped” her. India, who described herself as “a branded, brainwashed sex slave," said she was "afraid" of "master Mack.

This cult has been the topic of films, including docuseries The Vow and Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult. The podcast Uncover also dedicated a season to NXIVM.
