^^
He was pretty much the first advocate of the KETO diet, bacon & eggs without toast for breakfast, steak/hamburger and salad for dinner.
Old-School Protein shakes made with heavy cream blended with raw eggs kept in the fridge and sipped throughout the day to keep you in positive nitrogen balance.
***ONCE a week, you were to have a high-carb cheat meal to recharge your metabolism.

Yes, Keto with refeeds, and a few other odd things like a vegetarian day/period to balance you out if you needed it.

Those two articles / interviews have some insight.
Edit - Talk about a voice not matching a perception -
.
Bit convoluted, but he basically tells the guy keto, with a focus on natural sources, and liver tablets.

I've never read his books, but based on the Ironman interviews he was way ahead of his time.
A few statements:
- eggs don't raise cholesterol, which has been confirmed much later.
- don't mix carbs & fats
- don't drink skimmed milk

Not a troll at all. Vince was big on water retention, and thought training while drinking would cause it. He did advise people bulking to drink up. Also old time wisdom across many sports was that drinking caused cramping, and that ruined work outs. He also kept his work outs fast, much faster than many others.
Gironda is one of those guys that was ahead of his time sometimes, in step with others of his era sometimes, and just plain odd other times.
Like most gurus, you've got to look at it all, and separate the wheat from the chaff.
